Custom page blog?

Hi everyone 

I would love to add a type of blog or news page as a home page. Please see my ProBoards site to see what I mean.

at the minute I am just using a simple code I wrote to link to the forum post but this can be quite painstaking and also only I can do it. 
I would like my forum members to have the ability to post their own stories and content on the home which would then link to the forum. 

Any ideas would be very helpful.

I'm not sure it'd be possible for members to post on a custom page. You'd probably have to do this through a thread/board.

Just as a note, this area is for V4 so V5 posts should be made in other appropriate boards =) This would probably be general Support

jmmreviews the only way i have found to do a "blog/news" page is what ₪» ⅀ ƪ Ƒ «₪ has suggested and that is by using the custom pages then having a link up in your navigation menu. I have one and managed to link it in the navigation menu and all tie into the theme. if you would like to have a look then please feel free to look at it at zaddict.proboards.com/

?1d??x? I would love something like the blog on zaddict.proboards.com/ can you post images and videos on that blog because that would be perfect

Do you hand code every post then or is it easier to use once it is set up?

yes i do i use the basic template i have coded and i have made the posting code simple so i dont mess it up. With your one it all depends on how you want the blog/news page to look and i find it always helps to have a rough idea of what it should look like as i did on mine.

I dont mind that, but does that also mean you cant post images or video in the posts?
Also does the code generate new pages (when there are too many posts on one page)? or is that too advanced? 
sorry this is all new to me but I really want a "news" page on my site.

the code does not generate new pages you have to repeat everything as for images and or video yes you can post it to a blog i have 1 video in the sidebar. Yes i do relise that not everyone is html & css savvy or even know it but this is how i have done mine and when it comes to it if i have to recycle old blog posts then i will do so. so jmmreviews your range of it is wide and is up to you in regards to how you want it to go.

I dont know, maybe it would be too hard for me, I would like to at least try.... Do you have a blank template of your blog I could have a look at? If you dont want to share I understand.

Smudges Thought you might be able to help me, I would like to make a home page that works a little like a blog, where forum admins can post "news" with images and youtube videos.
