the plugin uses data stored in the key to ascertain rank. the members have to setup their own key as they use the forum. until then, it doesnt have any way to get their rank.

rankwatch only shows to the admin. its where you will see the notifications when members rank up. without it, you wont have any way of seeing the notifications. no other member sees that menu item.

Hi,

Love this plugin, as do my members, but I'm having a slight problem.

The RankWatch pop-up which I thought was supposed to be only keeping the number of entries specified in the Max Entries to Keep option, is actually keeping a lot more, and as a result it takes a long time to dismiss/often locks up my browser.

I originally had it set at max 100 - when I checked earlier today it actually had 521 entries.
I changed it to 50 to try force it to purge some, and on the next rank up, it worked a bit - now down to 501!
Any ideas what's going on there?

Also a (very low priority) request for future updates - would it be possible to have the ability to preview the message(s) as they will be seen by members? Probably just my general lack of skill, but I'm mostly just guessing whether I've got the right size etc, especially when I start adding images.

well its supposed to anyways. I will look into that as soon as I can to figure out why its not purging after the max number.

I like the suggestion. there isnt a way to preview it while in the plugin settings themselves, but I was just thinking there might be a way to have it show the dialog from a dropdown on the rankwatch dialog. until then, the easiest way to see is to use a fake member account and adjust its post count to see what a dialog looks like. granted that just adds more to the watchlog. but I will look into that as well. it should be purging but what might have happened since your board has so many members is the 100 it was supposed to stop at got jumped over that the dialog has trouble cutting it back down as fast. I probably need a better loop.

You have the largest forum I have seen running this code, so it provides a good test bed.

I've been keeping an eye on it through the day as there have been a few more rank ups, and it's staying consistent at 501, so it seems it is holding fast to a fixed limit, just not the one I set.

I totally blanked on adjusting post count! Now you've reminded me of that, test user is the obvious way to go for preview.

well its not the BEST way, but its the way that will currently let you see until I can add something in. I can al east try and fix the max number thing though tonight.

fixed maxentries bug (sometimes an int isnt an int)
added ability to preview salutes from rankwatch menu



the maxentries will take effect AFTER you have opened the rankwatch menu once and then refreshed the page. because I had it do the clean house after it had already processed the list. after it cleans house, it re-saves the key, so the key wont be updated on the page until a refresh happens. then if you hit rankwatch again, you will see all the older ones gone that are past maxentries.

Just installed 1.2.5 and it looks great. Much quicker now I don't have hundreds of entries clogging up the list, and the preview function is perfect.

Hey Wormopolis,

Myself and my members love it to get a notification when they rank up
So thank you for this awesome plugin!

Tho for some reason I can't see my members rank up in the 'rank watch'.
They aren't added to a group, because that will take away their ranking names.
Can I only see ppl raining up if they are added to a group?

There is currently a bug where if the admin's name doesnt appear on the page when someone gets the rank notification, then rankwatch doesnt get a push. I have a feature request submitted to get around that. until that happens there isnt really anything I can do because the key update cant happen if the admin;s key isnt loaded on the page. there was a thought that it should be an option to only allow notifications to happen when a member visits the actual home page where the admin name has a better chance of appearing, but I never got around to adding it because I was anticipating that request to happen sooner rather then later. Im not sure where Tim Camara is with that request. I might have to provide more panda express.

I'll let you in on a little secret.  That particular feature is now working in our local dev environment, and has been for a while now.  Unfortunately, it ran into a few bugs that delayed it for a bit, but at this point it's looking like it should be live before the end of the week.  (Hopefully)

With the recent developer push, the admin should get rankwatch notifications, regardless of if they are the page or not now!
