Forum URL: Beardedmen.freeforums.netHad a member post this about an hour ago QuoteEditPost by weekilter on about an hour ago Unless I didn't see how to do it you need to make the forums of this message board available by RSS. It's pretty much how I keep up with news and discussion boards. how do I do this?

Hi buddyg, In the Info center at the bottom of your homepage, look for the "Threads and Posts" category and you'll find three links within it: Recent Threads - Recent Posts - RSS Feed Using the link provided with the "RSS Feed" link will give you access to the forums RSS feed

I'm using G2READER and whenever I try to add rss feed of my preferred forum it doesn't accept it. Is it because you need to enter password to access that forum?

How does it work with an iPad or iPhone do you need to download an APP? I'm not sure if they have a built-in RSS reader so that's likely the case. I'm using G2READER and whenever I try to add rss feed of my preferred forum it doesn't accept it. Is it because you need to enter password to access that forum? If your forum isn't visible to guests the RSS reader isn't able to reach the RSS feed.

Using the instructions in this thread, I installed a widget to display the RSS feed in the sidebar of my Wordpress. I've set the widget to display the three latest posts from our proboard, but it only displays the three that were new on the day I activqted the widget. There have been a number of new posts since then - and when I open the RSS feed I can see the posts in the data stream - but the widget only displays the original three. If it makes any difference, only parts of the site are open to guests. I'm assuming the reader will display those parts.
Anyone else having this problem, or have a suggestion for a fix?
Thanks!

Hey harshaw, You're correct in assuming that the RSS feed will only broadcast posts that are visible for guests to see, as there's currently no authentication available to input your login credentials and receive members-only content through the feed. Are those three posts you mentioned the only activity that your guest-friendly boards have seen? If so, that'll explain why, but if not then feel free to link me to the forum and I'll take a closer look.

I came from a forum where we could get RSS feeds as an input to the forum. Is there a way to do that with these forums? Basically I' want to import news stories into our forum, not send out postings. Is it at all possible?

Hey lsc9901, In the future, please create a new thread instead of bumping an old one, even if it's related. It helps keep things a bit more searchable. Can you be a bit more specific as to what you're shooting for? I'm unfortunately leaning more towards saying what you're asking is not possible, since the RSS feed is relatively young in terms of features and functionality.
