You said the calendar wasn't enabled. The link is trying to go to the calendar. So you need to turn the forum calendar on.

Just something for the wish list. I have added in the news ticker in the front page the time remaining until some important dates, so it is showing:

ongoing IMPORTANT EVENT 0 
n days left to IMPORTANT EVENT 1
m days left to IMPORTANT EVENT 2
l days left to IMPORTANT EVENT 3
I think this would be great if integrated with the calendar with a span of days. It would remain after a link from the ticker item to a specific thread but I do not think this is referred to this plugin.

Is not a request but an idea or a new item for the wish list.

like it shows these "N" days until event on the hover in the info center or where do you mean?

yes, show '4 days until event X' rotating on the news feeds (or similar widget)

The problem with news feed is that it isnt as easy to insert new things into the news feed in V5 as it was in V4. so Im not sure I can pull that off.

or maybe in the future, it could be possible having some ticker pulling info from some different sources, at plugin side, e.g. the calendar or RSS. There are some github projects that could be maybe integrated as plugins. But maybe depending on external projects is not something that proboards like.

Well, it was an idea. If someday is created, I will used for sure. So, maybe we can wait for others users requesting the same to not borrowing your time.

well one thing is it depends on what the animation is set to. different things have to be modified before the PB core loads. once it loads, an object takes over the news slider and cannot be modified unless all the jQuery animation is stripped off and remade from scratch again. which I dont know if I want to get involved with personally. for this plugin however, I can make some changes before the core software gets to it and insert in the event listings.

From outside, it looks that making the core PB depending on a plugin or hacking the core in the middle may be is not a good idea.

So, the way would be either injecting the events in the existing news ticker after it loads (as I think you said in your last sentences) or adding a new ticker which could be extended for other sources (e.g. for RSS).

Well, maybe you can wrap this idea up with some other requests that you get around to find the best option when the number of requests justify the effort.

I can do it before it loads, but after it loads it wont be as easy to make changes

if you do before it loads, it will append the new events to the normal news feeds. I do not think would be wrong.

Im referring to your idea of making a plugin that makes it easy to just add things into the news fader from other plugins or whatever. THAT wont be an easy task. probably not impossible, but time consuming enough that I wouldnt have the time to devote to it.

for the event calendar plugin, I have everything I need to insert before I even try to insert into the news fader. I just have to get all the interface stuff to work with it.
