The ProBoards Library Awards
Hello everyone! I'm pleased to announce the first (of hopefully many) annual ProBoards Library Awards, that will celebrate the accomplishments of our creative community in the fields of plugin and theme development! As many of you already know, the ProBoards Theme and Plugin Libraries are made up of submissions from the gracious programmers and designers of the ProBoards community who have volunteered their time for us and elected to share their creations with all ProBoards forums by submitting them to the Library. These awards seek to allow the community to voice their gratitude and admiration towards these designers and programmers. Plus, if your theme/plugin wins one of these categories, you get some RAD PRIZES. Those are outlined below. Theme Nominations Thread
Nominations are closed!
We will be collecting nominations in this thread for the 4 possible categories. The rules state that it's one nomination per category per person, and those nominations will be tallied and the winning themes will be voted upon after nominations have closed. For any further questions, refer to the FAQ below or ask in this thread.
Please review these categories:
Best Use of Color This category is for themes that impress you with their masterful use of color.
Best Layout Template Overhaul/Remodel/Modification This category is for themes that contain a template remodel, meaning that a theme author has edited a pre-existing area in the layout templates to better fit the flow of theme, such as the Board List or Info Center (though an overhaul of any area in the templates should be acceptable).
Best "Themed" Theme This category is for themes based off of or inspired by something. Acceptable submissions include themes about TV shows, video games, seasons, holidays or cars.
Theme of the Year This category is for the theme that you think deserves the prestigious Theme of the Year award for 2013. FAQ:
Q: Why are we having awards for library items?A: For many reasons (like for fun!), but one big one is so that the community has a chance to recognize the effort of content creators that spend their time doing work for other ProBoards users for free.Q: How do I nominate a library item for an award?A: It's as easy as posting in this thread with a link to the library item you're nominating, as well as which category you're nominating them for.
The only requirements are that your nomination must be a link to the library (links to theme or plugin files attached in posts or hosted on Dropbox, for example, are not acceptable) and you may only nominate one item per category.
Some additional information: If you attempt to nominate more than one theme per category, whichever valid nominations you submitted FIRST will be counted, and the rest disregarded. You also may not nominate your own work.Q: What happens when nominations are closed on March 12th, 2014?A: No additional nominations will be collected after midnight on the night of the cutoff date. The next morning, the nominations will be counted up, and the items that have received the most nominations will be included in the final voting process where members will vote in a poll. The creators of whatever themes are the winners of that voting process will be provided with the awards.Q: Is there a ProBoards Library Award portion for plugin developers?A: Of course! Click here!Q: What prizes do I get if my plugin or theme wins?!A: Winners of the Plugin/Theme of the Year 2013 award will be given the following: * Ultimate glory* A special "featured" spot on the ProBoards Library that draws attention to your item * A free ProBoards mousepad * A free month of ProBoards+ * A Designer/Coder badge here on Support (depending on whether it's a theme or plugin that has won) * An awesome secret badge that is being added into the system for the purpose of these awards!
Winners of the three sub-categories will be given the following: * A special "featured" spot on the ProBoards Library that draws attention to your item * A free month of ProBoards+ * A Designer/Coder badge here on Support (depending on whether it's a theme or plugin that has won) * An awesome secret badge that is being added into the system for the purpose of these awards!

Best "Themed" Theme:We at notjusttomatoes.proboards.com/ nominate " Tressa " for this category, as we ask for a gardening theme and that is what she gave us, and it has brought alot of our older members back and they are posting again! We thank you Tressa as your hard work has paid off dearly for our forum.

daylilydude, is that a theme that was submitted to the ProBoards Theme Library? We'll need a link to the library page before we're able to count it as a nomination.

If you give Tressa permission to upload it to the library for others to use, she can do so and we'll get your post edited to link to the theme's library page - after that your nomination would be accepted, but if you'd rather keep it off the library, I'm afraid we'll have to exclude the theme from the awards.

My nominations are as follows! For me, best use of color goes to Bad Romance by TIKOLICIOUS. She uses similar color schemes in a lot of her work, but the darker colors on this theme really makes the blue, pink and green pop. Plus it was uploaded to the library a year ago, so it gets points for being O.G. I'm nominating Neon Lights from @khristian for best template remodel. The theme contains a good amount of custom template work from her, but it wins my nomination because of the sweet Thread List edit.
I like N A T's NVP: Hockey/NHL theme for best themed theme. Not really huge into hockey (...or sports) myself, but this theme just has some cool stuff going on, design wise. I gotta give my Theme of the Year 2013 nomination to Blue Ninja by Stinky666. Awesome theme.

I haven't looked at enough " Themed Themes" in order to give anyone a fair nomination, so I will leave that one be, so it's not unfair to anyone. My nominations may be somewhat bias, because they are based on my personal preference/taste (light, minimal themes with a hint of colour), but then I suppose, isn't everyone's? Best Use of Colour: Canvas by DorothiaBest Remodel + Theme of the Year: Slimline by ElseAndrew
My nominations are as follows! I gotta give my Theme of the Year 2013 nomination to Slimline by ElseAndrew. It's just a hands-down gorgeous theme... but I will say that before settling on this selection I went looking for the Blue Ninja theme from Stinky666. I was sad to see that it hasn't been submitted to the library, since that one is one of my all-time favorites. Stinky, if you submit it to the library, I'll change my Theme of the Year nomination to that one instead. I deleted all my themes a while ago, because I was just sick and tired of being rated low for no apparent reason. However, since working on my new theme (which in my opinion is my best yet ), it's got me wanting to resubmit them. I just haven't gotten round to it, but maybe this is a good reason to do so Edit: I just wanna say, I'm glad Smangii hasn't submitted any of his (has he?) themes to the library, cos at least we all stand a chance this way

I just haven't gotten round to it, but maybe this is a good reason to do so As long as it's before March 12th, since that's the last day nominations can be submitted! Gogogogogo

This is another tough decision for a couple of reasons. One being that Overhaul/remodel/modification? I don't fully understand the differences and I wish I did, so if I nominate something there and its wrong please forgive me. Best Use of Color Shadow by ManGoneMadA crisp, clean, classic look that never goes out of style, yet can be spiced up easily by using a more vibrant background and changing the text colors. Sometimes less is more. The simplicity is striking and its easy to adapt. Best Layout Template Overhaul/Remodel/Modification Love Struck by Alisha BussartA different look that is pleasing to the eye, both in style and color choices. Best "Themed" Theme Holiday Holly by MamagailNicely done and not overpowering. Festive. Theme of the Year Shadow by ManGoneMad Its versatility makes it my pick for Theme of the Year. See (best use of color)

This is another tough decision for a couple of reasons. One being that Overhaul/remodel/modification? I don't fully understand the differences and I wish I did, so if I nominate something there and its wrong please forgive me. The layout template section is just for themes that have some sort of layout edit that sets it apart from the ProBoards default theme's layout. It can be a small edit or a total overhaul - I just wasn't sure of the best way to phrase the category.
