LOL ok, but it's having to do more than I should have to if the example was just given in the first place.
Anyway . . .
Have a good night!

Well not to get involved in an argument but if you see enough previews and like it you're going to have to install it anyway so yeah, I'd recommend just making a new test site as it doesn't take up that much time and you get hands on personal experinces with whatever.

Correct sir. However, it's a bit of an ego booster, even for those who do the above. So are, like, a million other things. I'm still not seeing the problem with download/install count as those statistics can't be used on the actual plugin library to promote your item in any way. Also, the library is a database, not a contest. I never once said, suggested or implied there was any sort of problem with the downloads and installs counter, because I for one think it's great to have, and really like it to keep track of what theme is doing well of mine and which one isn't. Correct again, sir. It's not a contest, yet you can't deny everyone (and I mean everyone, you included) wants their theme to be the #1 downloaded, or at least one of the most popular. You're an absolute liar if you say otherwise Can't people just simply uninstall them if they don't like them? You're completely missing the point. We shouldn't HAVE to be made to install a theme JUST to see what it looks like. I'm not using " have to" in the sense we have no other choice, because obviously we have a choice of " no proper preview, no install". However, it could be a really fantastic theme, so you want to see an ACTUAL preview of said theme, but without " having" to install it to do so. Of course you can but why should we have to when it's a requirement to have examples? *scratches head* Because it's not that big of deal and you'd be able to get personal hands on experience with them. But I don't want a personal hands on experience - yet. I want to simply see what it looks like. Then I decide yes or no, and install it to see what features it has. You're wanting me to download/install your theme, why should I be the one who has to do the leg work? I go into town, and do some Window shopping, it's that, that then makes me decide to go further - Aka. into the shop to possibly buy what I saw in the window, or to at least inspect it more.

No argument from me User 180565 is taking donation. LOL I'm just stating how I feel about not having a preview for a theme, plugin or template and that if I, personally, cannot have an example without downloading the theme, plugin or template first, I just won't download it. It's really that simple. So, if you (general) want me to download the theme, plugin or template, provide a visual example of what it looks like in action and I'll happily do so. After all, it IS a requirement to do so on the part of the creator! But, I will not create a second board just so I can test something you (general) should have provided in the first place. I can get hands-on experience with it installed on my own board without having to do twice the work, one on a test and one on my own. As someone who provides a service to another such as a theme, plugin or template, I would think one would want to do everything possible to ensure whomever is looking at your (general) product has all the information and visual aids necessary to ensure they're willing to "purchase" (install) your product and be totally satisfied with it. That onus falls on the provider, not the customer. And, furthermore, what IS the point of having a rule if it's not going to be enforced?

It kind of just sounds like to me you lot are wanting to be spoonfed previews instead of just trying it out yourself. Proboards should not force devs to add any extra information to their code/theme if they chose to do so. Instead appreciate that it's free in the first place. Just create a test board and install it to that and you can preview it until your heart contents.

You're also not paying for them, It'd be different if they were making money off of it but it's a free download and would require little to no effort if you just install it to a test site.

So, by your analogy, since they're not getting paid to provide the service by the millions who use it, ProBoards should then not be overseeing the service they provide and chaos reigns supreme.

ProBoards admins get paid for their work, however members volunteer to add all of these codes/themes. They don't have to do it at all. Members should appreciate the fact that they submit codes and themes for free instead of complaining that we want more out of them. Really if you're that interested just try it out on a test site, it's not that hard. If you got the time to argue about this then I'm pretty sure you got the time to download a code or theme and try it out on a site.

Proboards Admins do not get paid by the members who use this service. THAT is the point.
And not to sound rude here but where the heck did you EVER get the notion that members do not appreciate the fact that codes, themes, etc are submitted by those who do so? And to be more to the point, Admins here in fact do create plugins, templates and themes. So . . .
The fact remains if the rules state a screen shot of how it looks is required, then the rules should be enforced! Otherwise, eliminate the rule and problem is solved.
And no, I will not create a test site to try something when the creator is breaking the rules by not including an example as to how the theme looks or codes works.
Enjoy your day!

Because you're asking for more out of them instead of just trying it out for yourself. It's not that big of deal, and proboards shouldn't force uploaders to submit anymore content then what they chose.

Actually we're not asking more since THE RULES, PROVIDED BY PROBOARDS TO THOSE SUBMITTING, STATE TO PROVIDE AN EXAMPLE! Duh!

"Please post more then one picture of your theme" - That's not asking for more?
