I'm GMT -5... hopefully things won't be too painful... >.> I'm unable to work though so I should be able to make it. EDIT: Pebble's post got me thinking... originally I was all for a PB coding chat, but a general coding chat would really help out as well I think instead of doing nights, we should just leave the chat open at general programming (we can talk about PB-related coding if we needed to) Well the good thing about Skype chats is that they do persist. Setting aside times is nice to try and maximize the audience. But once invited, you'll be in the chat anytime you're signed into Skype (until you deliberately exit the chat).

I should be available to get a chat going Sunday at 8PM. I will likely be on earlier, so may start it sooner if I see some on. Anyone I see online who has posted in this topic, I will send 1 invite (regardless of status) to the chat around 8PM. I suggest (already mentioned above) that you don't leave the chat, that way you can catchup on what was talked about that you may have missed. Don't worry if you can't make it, we shall see how it goes for a bit, see how active it is.

Just to let people know again, we are still on for today at 8PM GMT.
Just a heads up as well, I will likely be recording the call, and screen. If you prefer not to have your voice recorded (don't need a mic, but some will), just mute it and use the chat. Also, if you are using your real name, and prefer others to not know, please change it before joining the call.

Post or PM your skype username to me or someone who can add you to the chat on Skype. darkmage09 - Post your experience (i.e beginner). Intermediate. (OH! and I've looked into Sha1 and using it now. ) - Post the languages that you are keen on learning / improving. Improvement on PHP. (Currently building a forum) - Post the languages that you consider to be proficient in. HTML/CSS xD But I'm doing better than before on PHP. - Post the day and time (GMT if possible so I don't need to work every ones out) that suits you. Any time is fine with me.
SHA-1 is no longer a favored cryptographic hash function. In the very least I would recommend using the SHA-2 family (SHA-256/SHA-512). <?php
// Create a new hashed password $pass = hash('sha512', $appSalt . $plaintextPassword);
// Check an existing if ($pass === $storedPassword) { // Success } Or, if you are running PHP 5.5.x then bcrypt is very easily implemented (and preferable, in my opinion). <?php
// Create a new hashed password $pass = password_hash($plaintextPassword, PASSWORD_DEFAULT);
// Check for password validity if (password_verify($plaintextPassword, $storedPass)) { // Success } The one caveat with the bcrypt example is that is may not be the default hash in future versions of PHP. For this reason you could specifically use the bcrypt algorithm (PASSWORD_BCRYPT). Or, you could just verify the hashing algorithm is up to date upon login (when you have the plaintext password readily available) and, if it isn't, rehash and store the password. Either way, some pertinent links for you: password_hash()password_verify()hash()I use SHA256 on VPN, but why use it over Skype for programming chat unless hacking or something is being discussed? edit: Also, I may be joining this at some point given no webcams are being used because of my crap connection.

They won't be encrypting anything, the discussion about encryption was about an unrelated issue.
