Forum: www.gunjackcollective.boards.netHello, I would like to drastically change the forum's home page. (Now disabled) In fact, I don't want a forum format at all. Rather a sort of blog...just a place for admin's and whatever members/staff I choose to enter information. I'll edit in a sketch I have drafted in a bit. Little background, I am a newb at CSS and style layouts. In fact, I have NO idea what I'm doing so please be patient with my ignorance. Thanks, J ₪» ⅀ ƪ Ƒ «₪

Without the sketch, I'm not sure what you are wanting to accomplish. Have you experimented any with custom pages to see if they will accomplish what you want?

I'd be glad to help, since you tagged me, but like Tressa said, I'll need more info. Your title says custom fields for homepage but your post doesn't reference them, so I'm unsure if that's the route you're looking for, but a physical sketch or even just a detailed explanation of what you're looking for will most likely suffice. =3

Sorry guys, I thought I had posted it but the app is having problems for me. Here it is. (I hope) If you can't read my crappy writing just ask but that was the best I can do without going on my computer and doing an electronic version. Whatcha think? I also have requested a plugin to add social media icons in that board... Attachments:

I know you tagged ₪» ⅀ ƪ Ƒ «₪ for this but I think I can help you with most of this. He can help you with adding the icons, and the table if you decide it is needed for one of the sections. For the rest of this you can simply use a custom page, probably the blog style layout from the looks of the drawing. If you want to adjust the widths of the columns, you can change the percentages in the HTML under the HTML tab. Widgets for the Custom page are under the Visual Editor tab.For the picture, announcements, advertising and text boxes, use the HTML Box widget. There is a widget for Recent Threads. The Related Topics and Stories, and other Proboards ads cannot be moved or removed unless you purchase ad-free. Related Topics ad will not appear on the custom page anyway. Edit: To be clearer, the tabs I refer to are found Admin Home > Structure > Custom Pages > select the page to edit if you already have one, or create page and you will come to the page with these options.

Sorry for the late reply, I had a big reply typed up but it failed to send and deleted. .___. Thanks for helping out, I tagged him because he offered to help on another thread. I have got a custom page up, but all the HTML is, well, I don't know HTML. I have no idea what does what to do. About stuff on the bottom, can I remove the part that says how many people are online and birthdays and stuff? I don't really want to advertise peoples birthdays on the forum. I have a thread on the social media icons here if you want to help with that. (I want it on every page) support.proboards.com/threads/recent/504096Tressa

If you don't want the Info Center to show at all, go to Admin Home > Settings > Forum Settings > Forum tab, scroll down to Info Centers and choose "Disabled" for Display Info Centers. If you just want to remove birthdays, that can be done in the Home template, by removing the line (about line 60) for that.
<tr><td>$[birthdays_today_link]</td></tr> For the HTML boxes, you can place plain text in them if you want, just use <br /> for line breaks. For an image:
<img src="url of image" width="100%"></img> If you want the image to be a link:
<a href="url for link" target="_blank"><img src="url of image" target="_blank" width="100%"><img></a>
Hope this helps some. If you need more help, just ask.

This is the CSS from the forum wrapper thats there. If I wanted a title, and then an image, and then a subtitle and text, where does it go? I was also wondering if I could just make it sort of like a post, except no miniprofile or info on who posted it. Just for staff it would have the quote edit buttons and such. I just don't think my staff would be too jazzed about having to come into the settings every time they want to edit something. Tressa

What you have posted is the HTML of the custom page from the HTML tab. You can add content to your page by going to the Visual Editor tab and use an HTML box widget or the other widgets. For what you describe you can use an HTML Box widget, under settings for the widget, click the "Container" box and add your title to the "Title" box. Then in the HTML for the box add the code for the image, then the subtitle and text.
If you are wanting a post that staff can edit, create the post then place the link (just the number) for the post in a "Display Post" widget. You will have the "reply" and "quote" buttons, and "by whoever" but avatars and mini profiles are not shown with the widget.

Ok, thanks. I'll see if I can get that to work. If not, would you advise getting a WYSIWYG editor? I am trying I find one I like....

It would be:<img src="url of image" width="100%" />
or this will work too:
<img src="url of image" width="100%">
If you want the image to be a link: <a href="url for link" target="_blank"><img src="url of image" target="_blank" width="100%"><img></a> Hope this helps some. If you need more help, just ask. And the image link:<a href="url for link" target="_blank"><img src="url of image" target="_blank" width="100%" /></a>
or
<a href="url for link" target="_blank"><img src="url of image" target="_blank" width="100%"></a>

Mr. Undecided are you wanting to get rid of the green title bar, the text, or both?
