Hi Todge,
Installed and set up the plugin. The box appears on the RHS but nothing in it.
Help!
Ah, it seems only Threads created AFTER INSTALLATION of the plugin are being displayed, logical. Any way to make it look at a recent history, say three weeks? which is when the forum was created.

Hi, yes, it will only list threads/posts created after the plugin is activated. And no, plugins only have access to the page that is currently being displayed, so there's no way for them to gather data on the on the posting history of your forum. Sorry.

Thanks for the quick reply. I sort of expected that. Never mind, it works and now I've sorted the layout it looks more a part of the forum structure. Still learning. Thanks Chas

No worries.. As the list will only contain a set amount of entries it would soon fill up anyway, it will then start deleting the older threads/posts to make way for the new ones, so even if it were possible to populate it with previous posts, they'd soon disappear.

Hi, My forum is piganon.proboards.com/I installed this plug-in today at the request of a member who suggested that it's sometimes hard to tell when there are new posts on the board (I tend to agree). The Info Center is too bulky and apparently can't be customized to only contain updated/new posts and threads (it also lists new members, members who have been on the board in the past 24 hours, etc.), so I thought this plug-in might be a good solution. When you look at it on my site, though, it looks...awkward. Did I install it correctly? I guess because my banner doesn't stretch all the way across, it makes my forum look a little lop-sided, now. Is there any way around this? Even better..is there any way to install just the "recent posts/thread" part of the plug-in at the bottom of my site (where the Info Center/Statistics normally appear) vs. as a sidebar? ETA: Also, what would be the best way to change the font size? (heading is okay; internal content could be smaller). Thanks! Best regards, Sef

Best regards, Sef You can place the Recent Threads at the bottom of your forum.. First, in your Admin Panel, go to Themes > Layout Templates > Forum Wrapper... Now find the line that says $[content] and put this below it.. <div id="RUTS"></div>Save Changes, then go to the Plugin Settings.. Select No in the 'Offset?' option, Then put RUTS in the 'Container ID' option. Save Changes then go take a look at your forum, the Recently Updated Threads should now be below the Forum Stats cell at the bottom of your forum.

Thanks! It actually showed up under the Shout Box, but that's okay; I opted just to delete it. It doesn't really look the way I had hoped. No fault of the plug-in; I just wanted to something that looked more like the Info Center but without all the other stats.
Thanks again for your help.

I might take you up on the offer...a link in the nav bar works, but it's not ideal and I don't like that it lists 1,000 previous posts vs. 10 or 12. :\ Is there a way to format the plug-in it so that it looks and functions a little more like the "new threads/new posts" section of the Info Center? If not, that's fine--I'll just stick with what I'm doing, for now. Thanks again.

Todge: Hi. Forum URL: pondfriends.boards.netI have “Recent Threads BFG Daily Games” showing up in my news feed. Periodically, the new thread posted under the BFG Daily Games board does not show up, and it stays showing the previous thread. I have it checked just to display created threads.

Hi, Bumping up my request---or please let me know if there is another workaround, such as: should I request a new template to customize my Information Center?
Thanks very much again.

Hi, I am looking to try and change the Recent Threads Cell to look something more like what you are after, but what can be done is somewhat limited.. Leave it with me for a while and I'll see what I come up with. You could customise your Info Center, then you could maybe add the list of recent threads straight into that. Not sure how it would look, but it's a possibility.

Periodically, the new thread posted under the BFG Daily Games board does not show up, and it stays showing the previous thread. I have it checked just to display created threads. There's a couple of possible explanations.. Any threads created using a mobile device will not be included in the list as plugins do not work on mobile devices. If two or more people are creating threads at the same time, the last person to submit theirs will overwrite the other threads. That's the way keys work, they can only be updated wit a user input and they can only be read on page load, so the longer someone takes to compose the first post of a new thread the more likely it is that data may get lost. There's not much I can do about this currently, but it MAY be possible to mitigate it somewhat in the future. Also, I take it you have not told the plugin to ignore that board?

Hi, I'd be content to leave the Info Center the way it is, in terms of providing links to recent threads and recent posts, if I could remove the other statistics (number of members; who has been online in the past 24 hours; etc.). I actually posted under General Support earlier, asking if I could customize the Info Center in that way, but was told that those changes can't be made. Please don't spend a whole lot of time on it, but if there is a way that I can just tweak the existing Info Center, could you maybe point me in the right direction? Thanks again.

The person creating the threads is doing it from the desktop site. No one else is creating threads within the board, and the board is not a restricted board. It doesn’t happen often, so it’s nothing major. Thanks.
