Glow

This is a support thread for the Glow theme.

This is an animated border around the forum.  The border 'bars' change colors between blue, green and red.  The images are 1100 px wide and the forum needs to be 960px.  The color used for the banner/logo is #4451A6.



The first image shows the forum with the Shoutbox in the Sidebar Redux plug in. You can either use your own banner or logo or contact me to make one like the preview shows.




The second image shows the forum stats icons.



The third image shows the legend icons.



The fourth image shows the forum with the sidebar.



The fifth image shows the forum without the sidebar.

This theme allows users to choose their own mini profile background.

Credit and thanks go to RADesign and Pebble at IOD (InterOcean Design) for their help and the code to make the border around the forum work.

Very nice theme, and I'm trying it on my test forum before adding it to my main forum. On all my other themes, I'm using the Welcome Header Below Ad plugin, but it does not work on this theme. Do you have any idea how to get the banner below the ads?

Hi Tressa, can you check to make sure the Welcome Header Below Ad plugin is enabled for the Glow theme? Let's start there.

Plugin is enabled for the theme. Tried disabling all other plugins, no change. Tried using the Move Banner setting in the Sidebar Redux plugin and it only moved the navigation tree below the ad, not the navigation bar or banner. I was looking at the Wrapper template to see if I could find the cause. Line 36 there is a closing </a> tag and line 51 closing </header> tag that I couldn't find the openings for. I added the <header> below line 16 and now have it working.

Yeah, I tried disabling plug ins too. My first thought was the wrapper. Glad you got it working. Now, others will know what to do too, so thank you for posting what you did to fix it.

I would like to install this on my forum. How do I put my own forum name in the header? I looked in the template and I couldn't see where to replace the default title.

Also, I would like to try it with the shoutbox sidebar.

That's is because you either have to make one or have me make it for you. What name do you want the logo to say?

I'd like it to have my forum title, Café Cinema. If you could also put a subtitle underneath with the words, 'chat, games, prizes and more', that would be great.

I would like to try it with the shoutbox sidebar, but in case I change my mind, could the shoutbox be moved back to the bottom?

Yes, just by disabling the sibebar redux, the chat should go back to the bottom.

Ok, I have made the logo two ways because when I looked at your site, the second line is longer that the first. So I did it both ways. Click them for the full size.





All you need to do is save them to your hard drive and upload them in your admin, in the header area. Set the height to be 150 and try them out to see which you prefer. If you need something changed just let me know.

Go to your admin, then Themes, then Advanced Styles and CSS. Wait for it to load then click on the Visual Editor tab. Wait for that to load. then click on Header, then Forum Banner, then banner image. Once in there you will see

Height
Background Color
Background Image
Background Repeat
Background Position

here is what you want to set them to

Height ------- 150
Background Color ----- transparent

Background Image ----- at the end you will see a little box with a yellow arrow. Click that, it will bring up the file upload window from your computer and you just go to the folder where you save it and select one and upload it. Now depending on how you have things set up, you should be able to see on the right, your forum as it places the logo in there. If not, then just scroll down an you should see it. Then go back up and do the same with the other image an scroll down and see what that one looked like. I liked the second one better. If you like one then make sure to save otherwise it will revert back.

Background Repeat ----- no repeat
Background Position ---- center top

Once you have these settings in place then save again.
