Make it a face whose expression morphs from jubilation (100% happiness) to devastation (0% happiness), with 10-or-so intermediate expressions. Maybe as a little 16x16 icon that appears at the top right of an animal image when the user mouses over it (or mouses over a particular tool, or enters the correct mode in the editor, etc.) If that's too complicated, you can't go wrong with a rectangular bar. As far as ideas go, that's definitely better than a bar. You sir have created a unique challenge that I accept as pure genius.

Looking good. But what is the last one supposed to be? The animal died of grief? Does "happiness" represent the vitality of the animal as well? Well the last one will probably only be used in cases of death. I figured the really unhappy one will be the lowest you get for this first release. I'm not planning on the happiness feature to affect the animal in any shape or form. But if you want to brainstorm ideas on how it should work such as, low happiness = refuse to move, alert a custom message, etc. I'm open to suggestions. Death will probably be in the next release when I get feedback on bugs and wish lists. Also I have a side-plugin I need to develop for my personal forum before Death is added.

Is there an updated version of the plugin people can play around with? The latest version is from the 17th. The last version that I tested was the one you posted on June 26th.

Still have a few more features to add. Right now Happiness is set at 3 and is not affected by any tools yet. I would delete all previous key data for this version. I haven't thoroughly tested the backgrounds section either. My Fat Plugin is So Cute. 19260 words 117555 characters if it was an essay lol. (Provided by wordcountonline.net/)

P̌̓aͧś̀t̀u͒le͆o͂2̀3̃̓: Several problems are cropping up with this version: - even after purchasing animals and toys, items do not appear under the "View Animals" and "View Toys" commands in the ledger. The ledger always shows "None" for both. The JS console reports ReferenceError: pixeldepth is not defined
- in the "Images" tab, the current background shows up as "No Image" even though the current background is the first background in the list
- clicking "Preview Background" with "No Image" in the background thumbnail sets the background image to a giant "No Image" image
- selecting a background from the list and running "Preview Background" will preview the background, but leaves the preview as the background. The preview persists even when closing "Images" and/or working with other commands. Only refreshing the browser will restore the original background.
- running "Choose Background" for any background and confirming has no effect. Whatever background was last previewed remains the background as long as the browser isn't refreshed. If the browser is refreshed, the default background is used regardless of the chosen background. The error ReferenceError: pixeldepth is not defined is generated on the JS console.
- the built-in backgrounds have generic titles "Image 1", "Image 2". The apparently can't be customized in the plugin settings. Since the titles convey no useful information, why not just omit them and use only the thumbnails?
- inserting my own URL in the "Custom Background" box and running "Choose Background" asks me if I want to purchase the background for $500, even though I have all items listed as free, I'm not using the monetary system, and the custom background price field is blank. I don't know where the $500 figure comes from. It doesn't appear anywhere in the plugin settings. (Entering "0" for the custom background price appears to work properly, although "Choose Background" still has no effect.)
- the "Previous Backgrounds" list is always empty. This is likely related to problem 5.
- the JS console frequently reports Error: User Spam Clicked - Do not spam click. It appears to be leftover debug code.
- the expanded-ness of the menus on the "Images" is inconsistent when the tab is is opened
- it isn't immediately obvious that the way to collapse a submenu of the "Backgrounds" menu (e.g. "Field Backgrounds") is to click on "Backgrounds" again. In all other places of your plugin, a submenu is collapsed either by clicking again on the submenu title or on another submenu title. In this case, clicking on a submenu such as "Field Backgrounds" hides all other submenus, and the submenu can only be collapsed by clicking on the title of the main menu.
- the "Custom User Options" setting in the "Settings" tab of the plugin config appears as a multi-form. Is this the desired behaviour? If so, what do the different sets of custom options apply to?
- the size of the animal/toy thumbnails in the ledger tab is still fixed to 175x144. I realize there's a space limitation, but perhaps change it to style="max-width:175px; max-height:144px;" with centering?
Until issue 1 is resolved, I can't try out any of your neat new features. I do like the fact that the plugin determines the viability of custom background image links and uses "No Image" as a replacement for broken links. I'd recommend that you notify the user that the link they've supplied is broken, however. One additional note: It's not immediately obvious that the "Play" command on the menu is the starting point for adding/removing animals and toys. If I might make a bold suggestion, change the "Play" command to "Manage" and move it to the second position in the menu, immediately next to the ledger. I suggest this because the tab is really about inserting/removing (i.e. managing) animals and toys, and is second in importance only to the store/inventory (a.k.a. "ledger"). Another suggestion would be to call this tab "My Farm", "My Cave", etc., indicating to the user that they can manage "their" animal pen, however this would require dynamic text for the menu item caption. Hopefully this feedback is helpful. It actually came to you via a short adventure. I always Ctrl+A/Ctrl+C post contents before posting since Proboards has a tendency to "eat" posts now and again. But this time my finger slipped and I hit Ctrl+A/Ctrl+V. Uh oh. Text is wiped out. I try Ctrl+Z. Nothing. I try "Undo" from the context menu. Nothing. Curses! Firefox's "Undo" system regarding editable HTML elements is seriously flawed. But wait! I recently switched to BBCode mode and back, hence the BBCode textarea should still theoretically have the BBCode version of my post. So I open up the object browser, find the textarea, copy its unique selector, and invoke .val() on it in the JS console. Success! 98% of my deleted post appears in the console! And they said programming was a useless skill.

Havent tested or run extra checks for people without the monetary system. 2. No image is if the url doesn't parse correctly. 3. Works right. However I should add a revert changes. Preview allows you to modify your layout however you want. IT just wont be saved unless you buy/select. 4. It was the selected image so it worked as designed. 5. has to do with 1 6. Yeah originally thought I was going to do titles. Prob should omit. 7. relates to 1 8. because of 1 9. No the spam click is correct. If the animation has not finished, I have to throw an error to keep it from getting all glitchy. Only works when clicks are too close together. 10. Is true. Prob should fix for consistancy 11. ran out of time look later

If you think that is confusing, I could change it. I also did that with some of the images so they would group height and width together. With the images though you could basically save other images without losing the information. 13. Good suggestion. I didn't think that it was ready for a release since I hadn't tested anything, and apparently it's not lol. I hope that you don't find it discouraging that the test release was a flop. I really like your input. It keeps me working hard and making this nothing less than the best it can be.

I'll give it a thorough looking over Sunday evening. I installed the Monetary System plugin yesterday evening to circumvent issue #1 and played around with several of the new features.
