As discussed in support.proboards.com/thread/521552/thread-2-boards?page=1&scrollTo=5968974I would be interested in a thread appearing in 2 boards. As suggested, by means of an announcement this could be obtained. So I wonder if enhancing the announcements to filter the boards where they are shown would achieve these 2 goals: * filtering the boards where an announcement can be shown * allow a thread to be shown in several boards My +1 for this functionality. Mi project ponzinomics.org/Thanks

and where are you looking to choose which boards? in the plugin settings or in the thread creation itself?

If you add it to the thread creation you would create a dependence to a plugin that may or may not be loaded for this user, and this can lead to further problems, I guess. I think the proper place is the plugin settings. Similar is already being done in the plugin of Metadata in threads, e.g. Also in Global Messages. My guess.
(But I have not used announcements yet)

Hello Wormopolis, in ProBoards Thread Meta Data Settings -> Fields,
there is a field:
You can restrict meta data to certain boards below. Leave this alone if you want the meta data available on all boards. Boards
This is the kind of assignment that I was thinking of. But not sure how to apply this thread/announcement (I do not know yet how the announcements settings panel looks)
In Global Messages there is another field:
Show In Board Add Board
that looks quite the same purpose

I have been reviewing the announcements functionality on replying in a thread and looks perfect for this purpose of sharing the thread between specific boards. Is not fully clear to me is if the concept of announcement is associated to an specific post or to the whole thread. But anyway, as far as I tested it looks a good match for sharing the thread. What I do not know is where this functionality to configure the referred boards would fit better. Update: I found the manual support.proboards.com/thread/460302/thread-announcement

wow, it seems to work just great so far. Exactly as expected. If I discover any issue on usage in next few days I will update the thread but, for the moment, for me, is fixing the issue beyond expectations.

It seems to be working fine so far. I just found an enhancement that maybe is not difficult (hopefully an IF). Currently threads are only shown where configured in the 'Announcements Filtered' plugin. However, it is not maintaining the original announcement thread in place. It would be very helpful a setting as:
X Keep Original (or any better name)
You can think that would be enough by adding a new entry in the Selected Boards field but, in my case, thread can move between 2 boards and, I ignore where the thread will be, at configuration time.
Does it makes sense?

you mean the original announcement is disappearing from the board it actually resides in? that was on purpose in case that was something someone would want to do. if you want it to stay there, add that board to the selected boards list for that announcement.

Hi Wormopolis, yes, this is what I thought would be the purpose (and it works as expected). However, in my case, original board is variable. Threads can come from one of 2 source boards (depending on how the variables that they represent is performing) but only from one. At config time, I know the target board(s), but I do not know which of both potential source boards is the origin. If I add both potential original source boards (as you suggest), thread will be shown in both. This is why I find a 'Keep Original' not being redundant information (=case of source board unknown at config time). Destination is correct as you can see here. Source board can be this or this.

when you make the thread, you will know what board it is in. you cant create a filter without a thread ID. and you cant get a thread ID without creating an actual thread. you wont be able to create filters ahead of time. at least not working ones because without thread IDs they dont do anything.
