Monitor Group Member Count

I figure this is the right place to put this. Let me know if I'm in the wrong board.

Is there a way to monitor the number of members in certain groups on a side table? Something that would update automatically when new members are added to the group?

That information isn't available on every page, so that wouldn't be possible.
