Adds a simple search box at the top of your forum.
Can also be placed elsewhere with the code: <span class="simsearch"></span>
Version 1-1 Adds Width and Button Text Options



Supports multiple search boxes on a page and the option to turn the title-bar search box off.

Works a charm now! Now to work on its styling etc

Edit: Is there anyway I could replace Search (text) with a symbol from Font Awesome?

Eg to do it I'd need to basically be able to replace the whole Search text with some html: <i class="fa fa-search"></i>
-goes to see if you left build enabled-

Edit Edit: did it myself - hope you don't mind me editing straight into build mode

I don't mind, problem is that you would have to change it every time I update it. (I don't believe any updating will be necessary)
However if someone does decide I need to push an update via request, then I shall add an option for some types of styling.

Thanks for the search bar! I was wondering if you are able to help me...

I know absolutely nothing about coding, and when I read that you have to do some coding to change the location of the search bar, I had no idea what to do.

I'm not sure the question is as simple as asking "What do i put where" (I imagine that would differ from site to site), but I'm at a loss as to what else to ask!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you want it placed somewhere else, you can do that via modifying your template. And where you add that is different based on where you want it viewed. You would have to be really specific and possibly have a picture of where you want it placed for anyone to help you further.

The Search function only works for members and not for guests??? Is it the Plug-in or would it be my forums settings at fault?

The plugin is not loading on that site currently. I don't know if you still have it installed or if its not loading for guests. In theory my plugin should work for guests and may be your settings or setup of the plugin.

Yes, it's strange why when, "as a guest" and tried using the "search bar" it would just go into the old search mode, where effectively you would then have to retype the

"Key word" again instead of going directly to whatever "key word" was first used. But it does work perfect for members and staff at my site, so as a result of this;

What I did was click "Edit". then changed who can view to "members and Staff" this way the guests don't see the (your) improved "search bar" but only the old/original search icon. Thanks for your help and really appreciate your plugins and all the effort people like you go to.

perhaps their is a difference between a guest and user by how things are searched. I'll put it as a possible bug. Thanks for the heads up

Is there anyway to take away the search page that comes with the forum while keeping your search bar up?

You would have to do this in themes.

Added it to header but where it appeared OK...but got this message:  so had to delete the code.

I re-installed it just to see if that worked...but it didn't!
