Hey, Brian! Forum URL: psychic-psyghtings.proboards.comI am working on a new Custom MP for members and, for some reason, the even and odd MPs are acting odd. An active link is here. The Display Name and Posts/Threads links should be white, but as you can see, it isn't White on all of the MPs on that link. I was given an even/odd post CSS a while back, but I can't seem to find it. That seemed to fix the problem, but I can't locate it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Thanks for your help!

Hey, Brian. It's Alan again. I was attempting to create a new Custom Mini-Profile for one of my members and, for some reason, every time I pressed the backspace button it deleted the whole line - the HTML, CSS and JS when I only wanted to remove a few characters of one part. This happened also in the Plugin Builder a while back. I'm not sure if they're somehow related.

The default CSS for odd/even mini-profiles still applies regardless of what you've changed. If you want to ensure your text is the correct color you'll need to apply the appropriate CSS to the plugin to overwrite anything specified by the theme. Hey, Brian. It's Alan again. The same thing will happen in any plugin that has the same auto form structure as mine because of a bug in the admin area Javascript.

I'm not sure why it is showing a darker white in the even than in the odd then. I thought I had the even/odd post, but I think that it only affects my mini-profile. Should I put it in the Stylesheet and code it so it affects everyones? Or should that go into the Plugin? I'm not sure why it is happening now, though. It didn't happen before. I just wanted to make you aware of it. Is this something that the devs are going to fix? It's been happening for a while.

I don't have the means to determine that for you at the moment, but rather than waiting on me to have access to my office computer again I suggest using the process of elimination and testing solutions to see what works. There was a task that was meant to fix the backspace problem before but I don't see it in the tracker anymore. I'll add another task.

I think the reason that the three boxes disappeared was partly because I didn't put a name to the mini-profile before I went on to edit it. I'm not sure if that's correct, though, but when I put in a name and saved it, I went back in and edited it and pressed backspace because there were a few characters that I typed that weren't supposed to be in the code, it didn't vanish. That leads me to believe that it was because I didn't add a name. It just never occurred to me that that would happen if I don't add a name.

I think they were being removed because of what you quoted of me here - deleting the whole line - but I saw it as only one character being deleted and it removing the whole line. ...I should get my eyes checked!

Brian: I have a few questions for you: Forum URL: psychic-psyghtings.proboards.com1. I have been wanting to make it so the only thing that shows is Online in the blinking text Member is Online for my mini-profile. I guess it's an image, though, so I don't really know how that's possible. I'm going to attempt to code it with code (JS blink()) and use the string property to show only those characters in the string. Would that be the best way to do it so I can have only the one word? Or is that way off? I didn't see anything in your CSS or JS for Example 3 that would make the Member is Online show as only Online, so that's why I'm thinking of doing it this way. The JS I wanted to use was the blink() and this is how I was going to use it:
blink(.online) - since I have the class "online" wrapped around the text itself in the HTML.
HTML:
<div class="online">Online</div>
JS:
blink(.online)
Just wanted confirmation. Sorry if I'm doing it wrong.
I found the blink() from here: www.w3schools.com/jsref/jsref_obj_boolean.asp. 2. I was on my forum this afternoon and noticed the following on one of my admin's mini-profiles:
I went and fooled around in the template that makes the above MP possible and found that if I remove the following red HTML:
$[user]<br /> <div class="msg-group-name">$[user.group.name]</div> $[user.group.stars]<br /> <div class="msg-custom-title">$[user.custom_title]</div><br /> $[user.warning.bar] $[user.avatar]<br /> <div class="msg-status">$[user.personal_text]</div> <div class="info"> <div class="msgpostlike">Posts: <span class="float-right">$[user.posts]</span> <br />Likes: <span class="float-right">$[user.likes]</span></div><br /> <div class="msg-online">Member is Online</div></div> <br> <span class="msg-staff">Staff Member</span><br /> <div class="msg-MPro-PM"> <a href="http://psychic-psyghtings.proboards.com/conversation/new/40" alt="PM $[user.name]">Send PM</a> </div> <br /> <div class="birthstone">Birthstone: $[user.birthstone]</div> <br /> <div class="badges"> $[user.badges] </div>
<div class="staff-group-tag">$[user.group.name]</div>
it goes to this, which is the way I want it to when the admin doesn't have the boxes checked::
Presently, it shows the first MP, but that's only because I put in the following to hide the Badges and Custom Field when nothing is there (like how you hide the Online status when the user is not online in your example MP):
// Hide Birthstone if none exists if(!user.birthstone) $(this).find('.birthstone').hide();
// Hide Badges if none exists if(!user.badges) $(this).find('.badges').hide();
Is there a reason that even with that code the MP is exactly like the first one? Why isn't it like the second one? I took the offending code out and it went to the second MP, but when I put it back in, I had the first. I thought that by hiding it, it would give me the second MP, but that's not the case, I guess.
I thought that if you hide the things, that it would give me the second MP, not the first, since it's as if they weren't there in the first place, correct? Or is it because I have a <br> there? Thanks for your guidance!

Alan Vende: 1. blink() is not supported in any major browsers so it won't work regardless of what you do. I'm using an animated GIF since it's the easiest method of repeatedly pulsating text on multiple elements on the page without eating up too much memory. The rest of the text is hidden because I've set my image as the background of a <div> element which I've then resized to hide the rest of the image I don't want visible. 2. The <br /> tags aren't inside of the element you've told your jQuery to hide, so they'll still be there regardless of whether or not you've hidden your <div> elements.

Last I checked, you can't make an image display only one part of itself. 2. If I put it inside of it, would that give me the second MP? Is that what you did on your examples so the <br /> tags are hidden to? If I remember correctly, that's a yes, but I just wanted to make sure.
