Welcome to what I'm pretty sure will be the last ProBoards Dev Blog for a while. Now, I know you'll all be terribly disappointed to be deprived of my wit on a weekly, errr, monthly, errr bimonthly basis. However, I promise that when we come out of hibernation in the ProBoards Coding Bunker in a few months, you'll be glad I was spending time on those projects rather than regaling you with tales of vanquished bugs.

Bug Fixes
- if(insert_button == broken && if_else_creator == broken) { fix_it() } (For those of you who aren't code monkeys, we fixed the insert button and the if/else creator on the Layout Template pages)
- Fixed \n characters being turned into
's in user signatures, causing characters to be cut of - Coaxed the shy little falling anchor icon out of hiding immediately when applied to a thread, rather than after a page load.
- Eliminated the ability to reply to a forum's welcome PM, since it's from the 'Forum Staff' account rather than an actual person, and not getting replies can confuse new members (or is it you just don't want to talk to me anymore?)
- If you hit your attachment space limit, but not your attachment bandwidth limit, you can now still view and download attachments, you just can't add any more.
- You can no longer create expired announcements or polls. Not sure why you'd ever want to, but now you can't.
- Staff who can see invisible users will now see those users' actual last online time, not the last online time with which they're lying to the world.
- Members who have ProBoards+ will no longer be burdened by those 'Click here to remove banner ads from this forum', because for those members, they already have been.
- Similarly, the ad-free settings for removing text from the forum's footer now correctly apply to the Guests Must Login and Maintenance Mode pages as well.
- In plugin code, if you chained a series of commands together that included an increment/decrement key call, the client side code would improperly return the value of the key until the underlying server communication was finished. Personally I think this is only a problem if you're trying to write good plugins. Just be content with sub-par plugins, and this wouldn't be a problem, Peter.
- Clearly the most important update here, we updated the Spotify logo color in the embedding menu to properly match their branding.
- Made sure that Twitter widgets did not break Tweet embedding in posts. That way you can tweet while you tweet.
- Fixed embedding Dailymotion videos, for the four of you still using Dailymotion.
- Previewing changes to Board-related templates in the Layout Template areas now shows you the proper results, rather than a darkly twisted version of a dystopian future.
- Firefox in their infinite wisdom decided to automatically underline all of our timestamps, so we had to fix that.
- Fixed a possible infinite loop bug when loading the forum notifications page. Unfortunately that page is still out there, somewhere, looping forever.
New Stuff
- When a new forum is created, the title of the forum is now automatically set to the subdomain you chose (e.g., support.proboards.com would get the title 'Support') rather than the old way of every forum starting with the super descriptive title 'Forum'.
- The plugin section of the ProBoards JavaScript API has learned to read and write with the introduction of 'can_read' and 'can_write'.
- Now you can disable those pesky intermittent news feed items without having to retype them the next time you want them to show up. Check it out on the News Feed page of your admin area.
- All of our emails have been overhauled visually, to brighten up your inbox when they arrive.
- We all agree that captchas are necessary, but evil. We've tried to reduce the amount of evil by introducing Google's new 'nocaptcha' recaptcha in some of the places we use captchas.
Big New Stuff (Notifications!)
- The new notifications system is finally live! Despite some early hiccups (especially here on Support), everything seems to be running smoothly now.
- Some users are already playing with the beta system that supports notifications for new threads and new posts, anywhere on your forum. We hope to be rolling that out to more people very soon.
