That diamond is very hard to see on such a small size and especially that lighter color but here is a 16x16:

As far as your images I'd store them in the theme and you really only need to upload them to one theme but can use them on other themes. The images above I uploaded to my theme on a test site. Just copy the url I provided, click on link in your themes images and paste it in and hit enter so you have them on your site via ProBoards because I eventually will delete them off my test site.

The only time I might use a host like photobucket is if there is a image I really don't ever want to lose by accidently deleting a theme the image was on or something like that.  

I wasn't sure what size would work in my Mini Profile - that's why I asked for a 16x16 to be safe, but I guess they can be bigger since the ones here on Support are 20x20px

I will be downloading them to my computer and uploading them to my theme. I wasn't sure if uploading them to my themes would be a good idea because if there ever was a time when PB went down or what have you, I'd lose all of the images, right? It's kind of like a 'back up of a backup' for me, if that makes sense at all.

Thank you for your help and your advice, Tumbleweed! I love the one with the border, but it is a bit hard to see, you're right. I didn't think of that when I gave you the Hex color. I thought a lighter one would be easier to see than a darker one (then I remembered the logo itself is white )

I have made small things (such as 16x16) when I had Photoshop and I was pleasantly surprised at how much detail (especially pixel by pixel if I zoomed in far enough) that I could do!

As long as you have the images on your computer as well as in the theme library, you should be golden That's why I use dropbox for critical stuff like this. It's in the theme library, on my laptop hard drive, and if both of those things go tits up, it's also in "the cloud" in my dropbox account
I've also synced my dropbox across two other devices, so I'd have to be having a particularly bad day to lose everything!

And regarding pixels, I've been doing a LOT of per-pixel editing (I guess you could call it pixel art?) lately for my forum. Cramming in tiny amounts of detail! Case in point, my hamster emoji
