Skidjit I don't think the Support tagging here is very user friendly because you need to hold down the Alt key and click on their name. Also, most people don't even know what it is. With the plugin installed, the names of the posters show in a list and you can just click the one(s) you want to tag. I wish Proboards would put it here, but they mostly keep the site in a Vanilla state. I saw a new use for the Simple Tagging this week. A member at a friend's site has had a husband in the hospital for a serious issue. A lot of us had posted support. When she came back, she clicked on all our names to tag us and was able to say a big thank you to all of us. I thought that was neat. It seems the Karma system is working well for you and the Like system works for me, so we both win!

Skidjit , here is Todge 's great Lol Plugin. It gets a workout on our board. Our members enjoy it.
And now, coupled with P̌̓aͧś̀t̀u͒le͆o͂2̀3̃̓ 's great new notification plugin, it's even more fun. Prior to this plugin, one wasn't notified of a post "lol".
Skidjit , as far as the "like" system, since we don't count them in our profiles, much for the same reason JJ doesn't use karma (nor do we), no one knows when a member likes another member's posts. So no one feels slighted if posts aren't always liked. If all posts were liked, it kinda defeats the purpose. Most times, I like a post when there's really no need for a reply.
JJ , as far as simple tagging, I do agree with Skidjit . But that's what makes the world go 'round and what's so wonderful about ProBoards'. We can customize our forums to meet our individual needs.

Thanks for the reply, ♥ ℒʊ√ ♥, and as you said, that's what makes the world go round, because I quite enjoy going to sites that use different looks, plugins, etc. I focused on the tagging plugin because at most of the sites I visited, many members got frustrated and annoyed because they could not figure out how to tag someone. Even when instructed, a few months later they'd be back asking how to do it again. I'm all for making the members comfy. I think anything Todge does is brilliant. When we went to V5 my members moaned about the loss of the "additional smilies" feature. I approached Todge and he fixed me right up. Made a lot of people happy campers.

I think any forum has the potential to succeed, I think a forums success depends highly on the attitude of the forum administrator, yet advertising is important, yes it's important to affiliate with other forums, but I think the basis of a forums success is the administrators attitude, people want to join a forum with a friendly administrator, nobody's wants to join a forum with a rude administrator, it's best to be friendly to members and then the forum will success

I've had new members even tell me that very thing. The reason they stayed after they joined was because everyone was so friendly.
