Would you get scared off by a thread posted once a week

Tagging and welcoming new members to a board in the 'announcements' board as it were?

I'm looking for ways to welcome new members without relying on pms (which some people find intimidating) and I'd love some feedback on this as I sometimes feel like Equestrian Heaven doesn't do enough to welcome its new members

What kind of thread? Like a play thread?

No just literally a thread in the format of

"This week we welcome
Member 1
Member 2
Member 3
Member 4
to the board! We hope they enjoy themselves" etc

I think that's a good idea. Members like to be acknowledged, especially if they're new. It's a good way to open the door so to speak.

I don't think anyone would be scared off.  In fact, I know some forums that acknowledge every member that registers if it means a new thread or post every day or twice a day. The reasoning is they want to do it sooner rather than later (not the once a week you were thinking) before the member wanders off and never comes back again.

Ehhhhhhhh. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that, tbh. Maybe it's nice to greet folks as they come in but in my experience not everyone wants to be thrust into the spotlight like that. Also, I usually make sure to have an introduction board so if people want to draw attention to themselves, they can do so on their own terms.
