Chris , I just downloaded this plugin, and I gotta say it's pretty cool. Only one thing I'd change (if possible): It looks weird to have the equivalent of a link amongst several buttons. Any way to format it as a button identical to the other buttons? ETA: I also found a bug in my copy... the PM that it generates is addressed to the thread creator, NOT to the post creator of the actual message where you actually click the "Reply via PM" link.

I'm not sure what you are speaking about with links among buttons: As you can see it's a reply to a thread not a reply to a post that was requested. You more than likely have a theme that has played wild and loose with the classes if you are seeing the button elsewhere

Meant to also include the following - I figured it was an updated version that you added post PM commenting as well. For now I have it turned off. When I did that, it opened a new tab, with a PM addressed to you, Todge, and P??a?s??t?u?le?o?2?3??... with the content of that post (the one I clicked the link in) already populated into the new PM.

So you are saying if we uri encoded it the way proboards does quotes it would automatically insert it as a quote on the pm page? Send me PM (click this link for a demo if logged in) Wow ...thanks for this Chris. I am going to test it out

Just a WILD GUESS here but that appears to be the same code that moves the reply button into each post That link was just to demonstrate the procedure I was describing since it didn't appear to be readily understood: how to populate the TO field, the SUBJECT field and add something to the MESSAGE body There is no commenting, that's another code

I've got two plugins that could likely be the culprits then: ETA: Gotcha on the example... Makes perfect sense

It wouldn't be the dropout plugin because there is no "reply" menu in the cog menu unless you specifically set a caption for something else you exported out of that menu to instead read as "reply". The reply button in post is what takes the button from its normal position at the top of the thread and makes a copy for every post. Logic dictates that if there are now TWO reply buttons at the top of the thread then that is what is happening. It is so very easy to simply uncheck a plugin then take a look to see what happens.

Good call, Chris. It was the "Reply button in posts" one. I think I'll just forgo this "Reply via PM" one if there's going to be a conflict though. I can only see it being needed VERY rarely with the group of people on my forum. It would have been a nice touch, but isn't what I'd call a necessity. (but, at least for future reference, you now know about the conflict if anyone else has it!)

That will serve well as a warning on the tombstone for the next prospective gravedigger that comes along wishing to reanimate a plugin that was buried in a thread that not even the OP knew was there.

(had to get creative on one of my themes... whomever coded it surrounded the "tags" (the $[post.quote_button] things) with div and /div tags!)

Chris, I noticed that this plugin also adds a button in the reply screen (see attachment). I've had several people tell me that they accidentally click it (or almost click it) often, and I was wondering if there's a way to either remove that button (make it a selectable option in the plugin, maybe?), or relocate it?

You could uninstall the plugin and stop feeding it so it can go back to its final resting place and follow the natural order of things If you still insist on playing with the dead then you can exclude the quick reply button by changing the .insertBefore('.reply-button') at the end of line 8 in the Javascript Component (build mode) to .insertBefore('.container:not(.quick-reply) .reply-button')
