Anyone remember the Family Guy episode where Peter had no bones and was just a blob? It's so hot out today, that's how I feel That's how it's been for me. Last week, all 90F days after another and it has been the same thing this week!

Wish I were you. I've spent the majority of my life in a land of heat and dust. Summer is my least favorite time to glance at the outdoors. Oh geez you can't mean that, really, lol. I look out onto a park with a baseball field and games are always in play there in the summertime. There's a tennis court just south of that, this place comes alive with the summer. It's no joke. Note the most prominent color in this satellite image of my hometown from Google. All you would ever see driving around is dirt.

I'm surrounded by parks here, they are everywhere and about 5 blocks south of me is the waterfront for Lake Ontario.

I never thought California could look so depressing, but that satellite image certainly is, Brian .
I live across from a lush green park with a lake and I'm a few blocks from a river and marina.
I'd hate the heat in your area, too. I don't like it much here, the humidity is awful. But at least I've got great views and beautiful green lawns and lots of foliage and plants!

I lived in Monterey and had clients on 17 mile drive and Pebble Beach Golf Course.

Amazing. You've managed to capture so many of California's stereotypes in a single image.

Amazing. You've managed to capture so many of California's stereotypes in a single image. That's how i like to remember it. I also spent time in the Mojave Desert, Just try to block the images and memories of the 3 months there.

Lol, T.C. , kinda summed it up for me, Brian !
I think of it as lush with green, palm trees, ocean and lake scapes, and mountain areas. Or barren desert. Never thought of it as lots of brown dirt in a city setting.

Lol, T.C. , kinda summed it up for me, Brian !
I think of it as lush with green, palm trees, ocean and lake scapes, and mountain areas. Or barren desert. Never thought of it as lots of brown dirt in a city setting. Oh no, the screenshot I posted was actually of a rural area in Riverside (ironic name since I've not once seen a proper river around there). The cities around here are probably greener than the rural areas in the image since grass gets planted and taken care of around the various buildings. Though you'll still get a mix in most places in Riverside. If you go on Google Maps and look at California from the Earth view you'll see that all the lush green lives in the north or in the mountains. I've always lived in the desert wastelands on the southern end. If you want any plant life around here that isn't weeds you need to make a concentrated effort to maintain that greenery. I've never really associated palm trees with our state. The only palm trees I had in my neighborhood were those that people planted in their backyards, mine included. Looking at the street view from before we chopped ours down there's one in my backyard, one at the very end of the street, and one in the front yard of my friend's cousin's house. Everything else is just generic trees you'd usually see anywhere. I think a lot of people associate California with the coast. I can imagine palm trees being much more prominent there because they're commonly associated with Hollywood and I know for a fact there's a bunch of palm trees in Santa Monica.
