Excellent news!
To clarify about the keys and super keys, will you still have to purchase them?
You will not, plugin space, keys, and super keys will no longer be purchasable after the launch of v6! This is fantastic. The majority of my ideas/theme concepts required multiple keys and super keys, so it was obviously "pointless" trying to make them, assuming people wouldn't want to buy extra ones, so this is brilliant news indeed

This is great news. Now I need to go see if I'm actually using any headers or footer codes. It's been so long since I've been in that section, if I am, it might be something old. Thanks for the update.

This is fantastic news Michael. Just one question. Will the storage space for keys and super keys remain the same, or will that be un limited too?

I'm dubious about this. How are you going to pay for the extra server space for this as inevitability there will be forums which use lots of plugins and will be resource intensive. Are you going to inundate us with yet more adverts (adverts have increased since v4) to cover the costs?

Are you going to inundate us with yet more adverts (adverts have increased since v4) to cover the costs? I'm not sure where you are finding these claims, I mentioned that we assumed plugins would be resource intensive, but in fact, are not, which we were able to establish after the launch of v5 and then take further steps with systems improvements. The decision to make this change was not just random, it was investigated and analyzed, upon which we decided to raise the capacity. The plugins themselves are built in JavaScript and provide no strain on the servers as it is executed client-side, the only thing stored on the servers would be the plugin data itself, which causes no extraneous resource usage. The service is and will remain free for all users and ads can be removed by purchasing ProBoards+ or an ad-free subscription, but with that in mind, we are absolutely using the minimal amount of advertising; the internet has changed and evolved, you only need to browse a few websites to see that online advertising has made dramatic changes in the years since v4. Additionally, it is not the "resource intensive" plugins that are causing the change in advertising, but the dramatic uptake of ad blocking software. The internet is an ever-changing landscape and I feel like we're taking great steps to meet the challenges it produces!

Sure they have an extra ad but it's not like they are very intrusive at all. PB mention to many , their ads are no sound or video, no popups or any of the other horrible, annoying, intrusive type of ads you find elsewhere. Most sites these days have a crap ton of ads, like literally the entire page is full of them. They have "hidden" ones too, which act LIKE a "post" or "story", and in very small print somewhere it'll say "ad".

Michael What about the current V5 plugins will they still work on V6 or will they have to be rewritten by the plugin coders to work in V6? That's my biggest concern tbh or will they be transferred over as well so they work without admins having to look them up again and replace them all in V6? Thanks for the hard work everyone is doing on Proboards and to make V6 possible.

V5 will keep going for 18 months, v6 will then be permanent so you will have time after v6 comes for plugins to be updated.
They will all have to be rewritten and remade for v6 but with the 18month period they should be able to get them updated

As I mentioned earlier in this thread there will be no limitation on keys and super keys. I'll edit the first post to include this now. I think you misunderstand. The current limit for a key is 4kB and a super key is 64kB. Will this increase or remain the same? I accidently discovered the limit for keys is actually 64kB. The database was mistakenly measuring the length of the array instead of the data itself, which cutoff at 64kB before the array reached 4000 indecies. It has since been corrected, but can it be uncorrected?
