[Completed]Board images

Hi, I'm the owner of www.GamingBoards.net -- Recently I've been doing some major changes to the forum and trying to now accomplish a high level of visual pleasure, I'm looking for a nice professional gaming forum community feeling, but at the same time I'm trying to stay unique as possible.

 I would definitely appreciate if anyone was able to create some Board Images for the forum, right now I've just used images I have found from Google and free art pages, however; I'd like this forum to be 100% fully custom. I always credit the graphics back to the artist. Right now I'm in a very bad spot financially, but I could offer a tip now, and in times of good fortune possibly a payment worthy of the work.

I appreciate your time for checking this thread out and your interest in helping me build my community forum.



What I'm looking for:  I would like for you to browse around www.GamingBoards.net and have a look at what's there, previously I was excited about header images but unfortunately I can only use quite small images or else it will stretch the threads page oddly. So I'm focused on the Board Images, and anything else you may feel you could provide. Everyone asks me to add colors, sizes, photos, etc, but I like to leave it completely in your hands.

I'm looking for Board Images to replace all of the ones I currently have, something that fits together well and doesn't seem so random and not matching as I have it now.

I'm open to ANY graphic that is created with dedication and respect for my forum, and your own work, that's fully customized FOR my forum. Because that's where I'm aiming, full customization.

For the record I think a tip isn't silly at all; a lot of hard work and time goes into creating images and a tip for free service is entirely appropriate.

It's great that you don't think a tip is necessary for your services but it's hardly silly to have it offered.

Thank you so very much. Your previous work for me is amazing and I'm happy you're able to volunteer your time here as I make thread requests at proboads for images. Yes I would like one for every board(there is a Staff Only Board and Recycle Bin if you feel like making those to ), and no I've been trying to change that up, maybe just something that means the same, or images, etc? I hate to beat a dead horse but it is a violation of riot games and blizzard's terms to use their logos in fan works.

Pebbles , I have to back up Kami here, in that, you need to make sure all images and logos used are not copyrighted.  If you go directly to a specific gaming site, you can usually find their copyright rules.
That said, we do appreciate you volunteering your own time to fill requests here on ProBoards. You do nice work but it isn't as easy as just doing a google search for images and then using them. You have to do the ground work to make sure you aren't using something you shouldn't.

the image with the "league of legends" and "Warcraft" logos in particular, but if you used literally any other trademark or logo (including but not limited to the Runescape logo) you should check for that company's legal guidelines to the use of their trademarks

Actually, you need to check that all images you use are not copyrighted.  If you haven't been doing that, then you need to but you need to be especially careful when using a famous logo. When a company knows they have a lot of fan forums out on the web, they will usually say if that type of usage is allowed and many are fine with it, but some are not. Kami will have to give you the specifics of what images she was referring to. (Edit, never-mind, seems Kami and MSG are on the ball here and already did so).

i want to clarify that both Riot Games (League of Legends) and Blizzard (World of Warcraft, among other things) do allow for fan work to be made using their material. The specific issue is adding their trademarks & logos in your piece.

Also, they require any fan creations to credit them as the origination source of the property - something as simple as "League of Legends and all affiliated characters are © Riot Games" (and the same for Blizzard) - and to state you are unaffiliated with their company. These credits can either be on the piece themselves or displayed prominently on the thing they are displayed on (post, website, etc)

btw i had no idea about this to be honest
i never thought this would be an issue , i always thought as long as you use official stuff of things like this its ok, i guess not

What you did was fine in a sense you just have to remove the logos OR use a plain font to say the game name. the problem is not the image itself, but rather that you used the official logos.

And yes, official artwork can be used to an extent under derivative works / fair use but logos and trademarks are another thing entirely. Most companies are perfectly OK with drawings of characters or screenshots / official art being used in a fan creation, but using their branding is often disallowed as it creates confusion and the implication that the piece or fan site is affiliated with the company.

EDIT: for the record I already informed the OP about Riot/League of Legends' policy regarding logo use several days ago and encouraged them to research other companies policies, so I'm rather uncertain why this wasn't also conveyed by them to any request fillers.
