I'd simply like to hear the go-to 'standard' image host you (or I guess your users) use and have no problems with.
Or which is considered more or less standard. If the users of the forums are very, very split, and use a ton of different free image hosts you can also tell me that. I'd just like to go with a good 'default' if you know what what i mean, just go with the flow. who does everyone use?

Most of my members, including myself, have used Photobucket since our forum began in 2009.
And the vast majority of all of our forum's images on all of our themes are hosted in my Photobucket account.
I can only speak for us, and we've never had any issues with Photobucket. Yes, they do maintenance from time to time which can make images inaccessible, but that's normal for most large sites.
Should you use Photobucket, I wouldn't allow them to add their suffixes at the end of the link for privacy reasons. It's really not necessary and I've noticed that those who do allow it, are generally those who have issues with the site. That setting can be found in the privacy section of your account.

While I'm not wildmaven , that was my first thought, Scott . I figured I'd answer but that it would be moved to the right spot.

That 15 min delay in showing user online always gets me curiousadmin I'm moving this to the General Talk board as this question is not really a tech support but more opinion based and can be answered by admins as well as members.

I have probably been through just about every photo host that has come my way, from photobucket - which when they changed their system I wasn't able to use it because whenever I tried direct linking images it would give me problems and load times were slow (this was in the good ole dialup days.) - though I still hate that feature now (and it makes it impossible to use in html because others weren't able to see it sometimes.)
Imgur was my go to for a good two years until they just changed their policy again to not allowing linking on proboards/jcink etc. Tired postimg.org it was okay but sometimes if you direct linked it would take you to their website and there would be less than PG rated images shown at the bottom.
Now I'm apart of nickpic - which was created by a member here after imgur went huffy. And I haven't had any problems at all. It has direct link options for html, bbc & html linking which helps a lot instead of me having to remember <img scr blabbity blabbity blah. (Yeah I'm lazy.)

They are showing up just fine.

We don't allow hotlinked images being used as content for other websites." & "...don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars..." - I admit I haven't had as much trouble, when this was changed in Feb. But I rather be safe than sorry - but I have noticed quite often a lot of my images have disappeared slowly overtime. Like my affiliate button causing a lot of problems for sites I was affiliated with.

Photobucket for things I might use over multiple sites, for things like affiliate images etc? I host them direct on proboards themselves. Then I don't have to worry about sites being down that are hosting images. Chances are if the proboards image servers are down... that's my site down as well

Honestly, I just use Wix (and then link to the image). It's worked fine for me!

Back in he early days of photobucket infrequently ran into bandwidth issues. It's my understanding that their bandwidth restrictions have since been relaxed and many high traffic sites no longer experience many, if any, issues hosting with them as far as bandwidth caps. My only issue then would be the massive lengths of the URL.
Otherwise, I've honestly just been using the PB upload for theme images (especially as it makes it so that I get variables in my templates for said images), and tinypic for avatar and affiliate images (but tinypic has an issue sometimes with reusing urls / have recently added a lot of invasive and pop under ads to their service).
Anything else I pretty much just host on my own server lol :x

Just curious what do you mean by 'variables in templates for said images'
