I remember when Bütch started this thread off on July 22nd, 2016 named "Describe Yourself in one Pic", I can and always imagine him as a rough & tough Clint Eastwood with a soft heart, we will miss you, buddy.

Although the Facebook link in his profile is not working, I searched one of his usernames on Facebook and found his real page. On the page there is a comment from a friend about his death, so I looked up obituaries for people with his name in the state he lived in. He has quite a distinctive name, so it was the only result.

I am still really shocked and saddened at the news he passed away, I really thought he would reply to my thread and post "Sorry guys, I have been away fishing and camping and I caught some great......", he did this once before in a thread when he had not posted for a while and once again I will miss this big Redneck as he called himself.

Although I did not know Butch personally, he was one of the stand-out newish members for me, so I feel compelled to say a few words about him.

It's true, as mentioned by a few in this thread, that he was politically outspoken, but at the heart of his political views was his love for his country and all the people in it. On a forum that's always been heavily populated by younger people, his life experience always meant he could offer a cool, calm, sagacious view of things and I often found myself nodding along reading his posts about life advice for younger members. Above all of this he knew when to knock it off, and was at his best when joking around and laughing with the rest of us here on GT. Butch was a real fun guy with a lot of wisdom.

Rest easy, Butch.

I always found most of his advice very sound and it made me look at issues from a different angle. Just sad some of his advice was thrown back at him because some people don't listen to no one. Life experience is a valuable gift which he tried to give. Rest easy friend.

As much as this has shocked us, I can only imagine how hard his sudden passing is for his family and friends.

He posted both on here and his Facebook page on the day he left this earth, so I can only assume all was well, and July 23rd started out just as any ordinary day.

In a way, that is lucky for him. There was no long period of suffering. But to those who knew and loved him, that type of warning-less passage, is the most shocking of all.

Through the night, I thought of him often. I remember his kind words when he sent a cookie badge my way.

As I posted, we didn't often agree politically, but just as in my real life ~ that's not necessary to call someone "friend".

Not the news I think any of us wanted to see. We didn't always agree on a great many things but there was still a respect there. Saddened to hear of his passing.

RIP Butch, have a cold one on us up there.
