Settings:

This plugin will create a container on the "home" or "forum" (if you have a custom home page) page and checks to make sure the user is logged in. The is a derivative of some code I had put on one of my own forums that's intended to get the member's attention, by using colors that basically clash with the regular theme colors. These colors are configurable in the UI, so you can set it to clash a little or a lot. I would not recommend using regular theme colors as this may cause the container to be overlooked.

I've left this plugin editable, so you can adjust the styling to your needs. Please keep in mind that modifications to the plugin are not supported. I'll be happy to assist you on how to make changes (as in, what line(s) need to be modified), but you should already have knowledge of HTML if you plan on doing any modifications. The plugin is heavily commented to help.

You cannot alter this plugin with the intentions of passing it off as your own, nor are you allowed to remove the header or any comments already in the plugin. You may alter the plugin for your personal use (on your forum), but it cannot be redistributed if it's been modified.

WARNING: Heavily modified templates may cause this plugin to operate incorrectly (container not showing, multiple containers showing). Please keep this in mind. To test, you can always send a PM to yourself, mark it as new, then go to your home page to see how it responds.

Bugs / Suggestions should be reported here and not in a review in the Plugin Library, as it may be overlooked and not responded to in a timely manner.

Thanks, aRMY83! I had done this as a piece of code on one of my forums, and seeing a recent request for a PM notification (even though there are already 3 - but they all do popups), I figured I would try changing the code to work in a plugin. Please let me know if you run across any issues with it once you are able to get it installed.

Hello Lynx

Did a test run on my test site and removed all hex colors:



then had a test member log in and they saw this:



Seems that it is showing double PM Notifications and one being removing color settings (first attachment) and the second, the original plugin install color settings (second attachment).

The only thing I can think of is that the plugin came with default settings inside the the UI in the build. After you cleared the colors, did they try to clear their cache before checking again? If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll get rid of the default colors.

Yes and when they logged back in, same attachment images as I indicated above.

I'm going to delete the plugin and reinstall and leave the default colors as is and then send that member a PM and see what happens. Back in a few...

Okay. Give me a few minutes to do up (hopefully) a fix for this. You may want to just delete the current version and data in the interim - just to make sure there's nothing "hanging around".

Just out of curiosity, aRMY83, why did you remove all the colors? Are you trying to get transparency in there (wondering, as I'll need to add some if/else to catch undefined entries)?

Okay. Can you try a quick test for me? Go into Build and change this line (near the top):

if ((pb.data('route').name == "home" || pb.data('route').name == "forum") && pb.data('user').is_logged_in == 1) {


to this:

if (pb.data('route').name == "home" && pb.data('user').is_logged_in == 1) {


That OR in there might be causing a double instance (for reasons I don't know, as it didn't do that on my test forum). If you have a custom home page, then keep the pb.data('route').name == "forum" instead.

Also, do you mind if I registered on your site so I can have a better look?
