My Board: buildinggreatness.proboards.com/forumNot sure if this would be best as a plugin or a template modification... so I'm going to put it here, and if it's better suited elsewhere, I'd appreciate it being moved by a Moderator... Thanks in advance! I don't want to MOVE the existing Nav bar at/near the top (just below the menu bar). I just want some way to add another version of it at the base of the thread posts, right before the Quick Reply Also, if possible, it would be nice if it could have a "next thread" and a "previous thread" link (or option for them, in the plugin's settings) in it. It would NOT need a link to the thread itself, just all parent links that led to the thread. Thanks in advance for any and all assistance on this request!

Hey Richard, If I remember right, there were difficulties duplicating the nav tree as it wouldn't drop down copied to a new spot. Maybe someone figured it out since but couldn't find any threads on that. Another option would be to sticky it when it scrolls to the top of the page. To see what I mean, I did it on this test site. I linked you to a board because there is also the paginated action bar that also stickies itself so the code I have on there, had to consider that. Not sure if this would be an option for you but if not, just keep bumping every 24 hours and hopefully someone will help you out or if you are interested in trying the stickied version, just let me know.

I'll take a peek and let you know... ETA: barring any other option, I think something like that could work... but the border/ & bar would have to NOT run off the page to the right once it starts being locked to the top of the window, above the pagination bar. I'd still like to have a "Previous thread" and "next thread" option though if possible... so I'll keep bumping this to see if anyone thinks it's doable. Even if it does turn out to be doable, what you created isn't a bad idea and someone may want just that. So, if it's a plugin, I'd suggest going ahead and adding it to the library... or if it's code for a template, then please, feel free to add it here as a reply. I might use it until something better comes along (if anything does). Thanks for your assistance! ETA II: Also, since it's "just stickying" the nav bar, shouldn't it also "sticky" the "Participated" button at the right? Youe example page doesn't snow that... (that could be due to me not actually signing in though).

So what browser are you using because it doesn't run off the page for me in Chrome or FF. Haven't checked any other browser but I will say, it was doing that for me on Chrome but I fixed it, at least for me on Chrome and FF. Anyway, if I were you, I'd give your original wishes a chance and see if anyone responds in the next day or so and then if you should decide to use this, I'll give you the code. One a side note:I don't like putting my stuff in the library because then people have so many requests to do this or that and I just don't have the time to deal with a million different changes to something. I'm rotten that way.

That's probably eliminated by the "Participated" button though. I also just realized, the nav bar is NOT closed on the right end, even before it "stickys". With it being Christmas day, I honestly didn't even expect an answer for a little while. So an option already is a Christmas Miracle!

Brian, would you mind reading Richards first post and my second post and let us know if it is possible. I searched and couldn't find where anyone actually produced a second nav tree with the drop down working. Richard, As far as my stickied nav tree, I did some testing and using a smaller screen resolution, I got what you are getting so I'm off to do some testing even if you don't use this, I'll have it ready for someone else if they ask.

I personally use this to make the top one move to the bottom on longer pages once you've scrolled halfway down the page. I've adjusted it to move the navigation tree above the quick reply if it's present.

I've adjusted it to move the navigation tree above the quick reply if it's present. Where would that go... in the general footer? header? each theme, individually? ETA: added it to the general footer. Looks like it will be a good solution! (although the one "docked to the top" wasn't a bad idea either... I'd still like to see that as an option Tumbleweed, if possible... and then I'll let my members decide what they like best)

Test Site That looks like it would work perfectly as well... Might want to go ahead and publish that as a plug-in. (could also add the option to include the menu bar in the "docking" phase... if it's doable)

Tumbleweed, any news on this being available as a plugin, as well as possibly adding in the menu bar as a "docked" item?

Tumbleweed , any news on this being available as a plugin, as well as possibly adding in the menu bar as a "docked" item? Oh I'm sorry, Richard. I thought that previous post was just a suggestion and you were happy with what Brian gave you. As I said before, I prefer not to put any of my things in the library because I have to invest too much of my volunteer time just helping people when it's not working because they put it on a totally revamped template or didn't read all my instruction, wanting changes, etc. And if I did, it would be in the template library as I'm not savvy enough to do this in plugin form. That said, I'll be happy to figure out adding the menu to it and post both versions here. Version 1: Just the nav tree docked Version 2: The nav tree and menu docked but I have to work out the details of adding the menu. I have test sites with just the menu docked and now a test site with the nav tree but not with both. Give me a day and I apologize for reading that post wrong.

And when you couple that with the fact of my board being VERY democratic, it's nice to have options to present to the members. NO rush. I mean that. I just hadn't heard... and not hearing makes me nervous after a while... LOL (I'd say "just ask my relief here at work today, on a day with iced over roads, who was an hour late and didn't call..." but... not sure how you could do that. LOL) I appreciate all your efforts on this, whatever you can do.

You can feel free to bump topics like this every 24 hours so never feel bad about checking up on things. I tossed things on that same test site and got it sort of working. Just need to get the jquery and css right so when the nav tree hits the menu bar, it goes in a fixed position (Right now it goes under and then pops back out again.). and then there is the action menu that has to hit the nav tree and be docked too so lots of tweaking to do to get them all to stack up right at the top. But it is 1:33 AM where I am and my brain is getting tired so will stop for tonight. It's on that same test site I posted several posts back. On a funny note, I misspelled tweaking in the above and spell check highlighted my typo and gave me choices, of course, and I almost selected twerking. Didn't even expect that to be a choice. Hopefully, I'll find time to work on it tomorrow.
