I don't know if anybody else has told you as just on my way out, but you can use your RSS Feed url as your site map.

I am creating a site map now and then i will be submitting it to google but my question is what does this do.

Yep. Site maps are for people who are self hosting and have access to their root folder.

That preety ends everything with sitemap then because that what i researched and found out. Why am i not able to have access to upload a site map through there ?

Because that is not something PB offers. They are a remote host, and quite frankly there should be no reason for you to need access to this folder at any point. You don't need a site map for your forum, you don't need to pump your forum with keyword meta tags, PB is already optimised to be crawled by indexing bots.

I understand you are in a hurry to get the best possible result ranking, but the methods used for individually hosted websites are unnecessary for PB.

No one has access. This is a security policy that keeps forums safe. And beside the fact that it is not necessary.

There are 2 main reasons for a sitemap:
1) For search bots to navigate the site
2) For users to navigate the site.

The way our forums are optimized with all the pages linked together a sitemap is unnecessary.

I know! And you're doing fine. But the key ingredient is patience.

My forum is the #1 search result for our primary term, and 1-4th or so for secondary. I haven't spent a dime on adverts, I haven't had a site map, nothing. This was also WAY before social media was even popular,.

What I did:
- linking to the site in my dig on forums I was part of and being an active poster

- affiliate exchange

- web rings

- good content

That is it! But we didn't wind up on the front page of results for literally years -- we will be 12 this october, and have only been on the first page for maybe half to 2/3rds of that time.

Web rings are a little outdated, and I don't think they're used anymore.

However back in the early 2000s webrings were essentially a network of websites for specific genres. For example an RP Webring would be a bunch of RP sites forming a directory. Each site would then display a banner to the webring itself, allowing indexing bots to find other websites to crawl. so say I post the webring link. the webring has 9 other sites. A bot finds my site, then visits the webring link. now it's found nine more sites of similar content. This helps all involved parties be crawled as specific related content and helps other sites get found via more popular, already established sites.
