I'm not sure what you mean. It does fade from 0.5 to 0.9 or whatever you set yours to. I'm guessing you mean sort of how the color transitions when you hover over a menu button? I'm just not sure how that would work because if you scroll fast, you wouldn't see it. You'd only see it if you went really super slow, scrolling.

Or do you mean it starts to fade to that color and/or opacity before you actually get to the nav tree or maybe you mean fade out as in almost disappear the more and more as you scroll down?

I guess I need to quit guessing what you mean and let you try to tell me what you mean in a different way or show me an example somewhere, if you've seen such a thing.

Ooh sorry I mean is it possible to add a litle 'animation' when they change, so it isn't so sudden and 'ungraceful'?

O.K. Try adding the blue to the css I gave you. (I have it working on that same test site and I put a bold color in there so you can really see the transition)
