Er. Again. Please refrain from adding stuff in. I know you're doing it as it occurs to you but we need to tackle this one step at a time so that I don't get confused or miss anything in your request.

I will address the second question after this.

Only the ranks will be fine. These should not display the Group names.

Then please clarify to me why these groups are set to 'private' instead of 'hidden', if you don't want the group names to show up anyway?

This is because:

1. No Beach Access is a rather stealthy way to block access to only one thread. This does not need to be broadcast for all to see.
2. Private Access allows one member only to access a hidden thread that was created for her and her alone. She uses it for self-therapy, so what happens there is no one else's business, and having a group label stating such is not necessary.
3. The two Mini Mod groups may or may not get an Avatar Banner that will (or won't) announce their Moderator status, as either I see fit, or we agree upon. Setting them to Hidden would not be necessary, as they will remain to be seen in their everyday lives.

Before we continue: it seems like you don't fully understand how hidden groups work. For the first two groups, you don't want anyone to see them, correct? It's just for making sure the people in those groups will be affected by specific board settings.

So again: why not make those hidden groups? They will still be affected by board permissions AND no one will see that they are in them, so coding the templates to hide the titles would be 100% redundant (plus: template mods do not affect mobile version right now, so people will be able to see those group titles if they're on mobile, if they are not set to a hidden group).

I want to make it clear that i'm not trying to be combative but I don't understand why hidden groups aren't being utilised for groups you wish to remain hidden.

You could do it that way -- I did want some clarification on the last two groups tho: what do you mean when you say they will "remain to be seen in their every day lives"?

I was granted a position as a Mini Mod years ago. I had no banner or group label. I posted everywhere I wanted to with no one the wiser... except for the one thread where I actually used the Mini Mod powers granted to me. It was Longing by the beach in another place and time.

The moderator of the section of the forum where the Beach was located was often very slow in getting around to doing any actual Moderating... waiting until the next day or two to delete things that were offensive (or could be offensive) to others. But by that time, it was too late. Everyone had already been exposed to the stuff. So we agreed between us that she needed help, and I used the ability that was granted to me as a Mini Mod to edit threads. I would remove materials like obscene pictures, or things that went too far.

The purpose of a Mini Mod in the ProBoards forum would be defined as such to anyone granted the very limited powers of the group. When not actually having to do something within those powers, they may act like any other member and post things like everyone else.

Does that explain it well enough? And should someone be positioned as a Mini Mod, the group could be changed to Private, and an Avatar Banner given.

Possibly, but an Avatar Banner would suit that purpose perfectly.

Well, the reason I'm asking is because I cannot target hidden groups -- if you want avatar banners they will eventually need to be switched over to "private" -- are you comfortable enough editing the templates at this point that you'd be able to duplicate what I've done in the future, provided I give you the "base" code?

For the future if you want to add any group to EITHER of the two classifications ("group with group stars" OR "group with post rank stars"), all you have to do is append the following to the END of the list of groups:

|| $[user.group.name] == "Group Name Here"

This goes before the closing } bracket in the statement.

Some notes to remember:

• always put a space between the end quotation mark " of the previous group name and the beginning || of the next.
• you MUST use double quotations for each group name
• you MUST input each group name exactly as it appears in the member group list, including any spaces and capitalisation.
