Hello all,
I am Menelaos Gkikas, a forum owner, having it fully launched in January with no members yet. I would like to ask you about the role forum statistics play in running it. It's a creative writing forum for all with a well built concept. As far as statistics is concerned, by experience you know very well that especially at the beginnings and for many pages not just ProBoards, whatever comes in goes out! A fatal mistake would be to say something like: "If a marketer takes over this place...". On the other hand, statistics, have to be ultra-targeted by the means of addressing social networking opportunities and personas to make it happen. How important do you think it is to rely on mere numbers, whether it's traffic, content or members? Someone may think it's obvious but baring in mind the digital marketing century, don't you think a forum of art and fantasy should get rid of mentalities like painting by numbers? All I am asking is a matter of mentality.
Looking forward for your reply

I'm saying that a social network like ProBoards owns specific indexes that measure roads taken. This means traffic, content (when it comes to threads, posts, statistics), members, etc. My question is whether a creative writing place for everyone, should override an everyday mentality of the above, for the sake of synergies and the quest of personas in order to get members. Meaning:
1.) Shall I avoid a marketing mentality of painting by numbers? (mere focus on content, traffic, members, even if there are more crystal clear networking options and options for syndication)
2.) Related to the above: Does the success of an Art forum rely on projecting numbers or physical (and digital, phygital) opportunities?
