No option in settings to add a shout box

I have no options under Admin - Settings to add a shout box. Forum settings, calendar, News Feed, censored words, reserved names are the only options listed. Could it be the NHL fantasy hockey web page template I'm using. If you have any suggestions let me know. I would greatly appreciate it. thank you

Are you logged into the main admin account of the forum?

If you're not the main admin or are logged into an account that's part of the Administrator group you may not have this permission as the main admin must allow for the Administrator group to access certain powers. They can change a group's powers via Members > Member Groups in the admin area.

We have two administrators in our group. I  am one of them. I can access the admin settings. but the shout box is not available. I can edit everything else with no problem.

wingnut0290, the administrator member group for the forum does not have the shoutbox permission enabled. You would need to contact the forum owner/main admin regarding this.

I logged in and out. Refreshed the page. Still the same options posted above. No shout box.

I think the Proboards Support admins will have to fix the glitch.

They should be back on Monday, that is when their office opens

Do you sign in under user name "admin"? If not, then it is as Brian mentioned - you probably do not have the necessary permissions to do it. Being "an admin" is not the same as being *the* admin, and you do not automatically have the same permissions as the person who created the forum.

Tim - this is not a glitch. Please stop giving bad/incorrect info.

Hello Tim

There is no 'glitch' to fix. wingnut0290 is not the root admin (user/1), he is a member of the Administrator group. And on that forum, the members of the Administrator group do not have the power enabled to access the shoutbox controls.

Your only recourse has already been stated by Scott .     I did a search for posts by your admin (user/1).  His most recent post was on July 10, 2018.  It doesn't appear as if he has abandoned the forum.

just install the third party shoutbox or just wait for the owner to activate the shoutbox.

Yea I was going to say the same as moonbeam, it's probably not best to make a recommendation that could circumvent the wishes of the forum owner.
