Felth of the Adeous Cluster; a post-apocalyptic planet many centuries rebuilt, now a fetid and highly polluted world covered in fungi, anthozoa, carnivorous and symbiotic plants. Surrounded by a swathe of postapoc dead satellites, debris and ship wreckage Felth is considered the garbage heap of the solar system, heavily stigmatized and cut off from the local inhabited planets. Nevertheless, Felth's surface and water dwellers are thriving and many cultures both native and alien have found their own little home and niche here, the diversity of which has transformed Felth's landscapes and cityscapes like no other planet before.

Basically it's a moderators nightmare. Felth is supposed to be 'sort of' like a forum-based tabletop rpg. It has stats, skills, dice rolls, fights, inventories and a trove of lore. It's a really big test for us with a world-space we've been developing for over five years now, we're hoping to run it for six months as a bit of a beta to iron out an faults or inconsistencies in the system before we invest some money into making it a fully automated, possibly client-based game.
Lore wise, it's a planet that's rebuilt itself after an apocalyptic event over hundreds of years. The event caused the extinction or mutation of pretty much everything on its surface so now it's a world of fungi, giant bugs, semi dinosaurs and many many symbiotic or parasitic things. The same goes for the tech of the races you can play. Everything is technically made from living plants, so your computer is alive, your car is alive, that stop light is alive etc. You can check out more of the lore stuff in the game guide, things are being added there every day as we work, some of the tabs are empty but there's still some substantial chunks up and running.
I'm basically trying to set it up barebones, I don't have much time to code elaborate systems yet and would rather have some funding for it later on so right now everything is run through moderation. Clunky, awkward and time-consuming but as long as it works I don't mind. Again, I'd like to redo the entire system in six months time, by then I should know exactly how everything should work so I can safely develop any automated services without having to go back and tweak them too much. (Saves me a lot of annoying coding trial and error, too).
I'm going to run through some of the systems here soon and see what you guys think about them, this post will be pretty rough but I'll smooth it out as I go.

I have always admired your theme from afar. It is absolutely stunning to me. Extremely unique, too, I don't think I've ever seen something quite like it. It has such an earthy, exotic aesthetic, I feel pulled into a different world when I look at it. Like, I feel in it, it's so immersive. There's so many fine details, too - like I love how the arrows move inward when you hover over the nav buttons at the top. I don't have any real critiques, I love everything from the images to the color scheme to the different hover effects. Only thing I noticed is that all of the vertical boards have a number in quotes, like "4", appear when I hover over them which doesn't feel intentional.
It is a lot to take in at first, yes. I don't know what is clickable and what isn't - for example, the very long but short image above the info center has a hover effect, so I thought it was clickable, but it doesn't appear to be. That feels a touch unnecessary solely because I associate hover effects with revealing information or being clickable, and it is neither. I think you'll get the kind of members who appreciate originality and are interested in the clearly detailed world you've built. People who wants something very simple or super straightforward will probably feel a little too overwhelmed, but they wouldn't last as members anyway. The ones who are gonna stick around are gonna be the ones who find the aesthetic alluring and fascinating, as I do. If I did join roleplays, yours would be a contender to draw me in!
All in all, very nice work! Especially that header stuff - the trees and map and overall top image section. Freakin' cool.

Thank you so much, honestly that means a lot. I've been working on this blasted thing for almost two years now, and the actual world space for nearly five so I'm starting to feel really impatient and down-heartened. Because it's so early on it's not getting any exposure and besides overly supportive friends I'm not getting much constructive feedback from an outsiders perspective. So It's really great to hear you're loving the aesthetic! I worry a lot that it might be too much or too out there for a lot of people to really be interested, but you've definitely given me a positive outlook on that. At the moment there are a tone of partially finished codes, in the front page alone I think only the top nav bar is technically finished but I'm sure I'll be returning to that after whatever section of code I get to next is done. I think that's my biggest problem at the moment, I'm having a lot of trouble finding any premade codes that do exactly what I need/want them to be doing so a lot of my time is spent learning how to go about coding it all myself and actually taking the ridiculous amount of time it takes me personally to do it, limited that my knowledge is at the moment. At the moment all the lovely picture hovers have the bare necessities, when they're finished the banners will display information on hover rather than the link and the whole image will be clickable, where as now it's not. Same with the thin bottom image, which will eventually link to archives and inactive posts but the boards for that still aren't up and running. I'm also bypassing actual boards through a lot of the RP areas in favour of more interactive tables but there's a lot to learn and take in before I can do that with any success, so overall the whole development process is long and tedious. I'm hoping once it's all done the result will be very streamlined and easy for new members to figure it all out at a glance, but it's a long way from that yet. Haha. Oh geez, we're forum twins! Been building mine for 5 years 8 months, it is also a giant mass of half-finished things. I also deal with feeling very impatient and down-hearted. I also struggle without much support besides a few overly supportive friends. And I also have been learning how to code through creating my forum! Well, suffice it to say that I thoroughly and completely understand how you feel. Let me know if you ever need to vent, I can relate to the struggle haha
You're doing a marvelous job. It is a tedious and exhausting job and it can really wear on your brain but it is worth it - the feeling when it finally opens will be so relieving and so surreal and so amazing, it'll make every second of stress worth it. Feel pride in your perseverance, so few would be capable of this, so few would even try this; be proud of your originality, creating something so uncommon in a time where forums have largely become mirrors of one another; believe in yourself. If you've come this far, you have what it takes to finish it. And what you are creating truly is lovely and worth the care. Fantastic work, my friend, keep it up :)
