While I am always happy to see others making their own forums, doing so when you have bouts of depression might be unwise. It's very easy to get disheartened by low membership, spats between members, being the bad guy sometimes, or even if you're too busy to post, all of which can worsen depression. The creation process is a lot of fun. Running a site can present challenges, sometimes on a daily basis. If you do open one, just know yourself and your limits and you'll do fine. Thank you, I agree. Though I ended up biting the bullet anyways, since there really aren't any sites I can join at the current time, and I still haven't been approved on that forum that was suggested. Which is fine, of course. But I thought I'd at least try. If it fails, then oh well. I don't really have much to lose, haha. Hi Codeplayer I have been down and not much active on my group but I have a couple assistants they would have approved you right away. Feel free to try again, my apologies for any confusion. www.mentalhealthsupportcommunity.comGod Bless Jan

I understand it's hard for people to speak open about their issues coming from myself. I dont think a forum would help you that much if were honest. I'd recomend contacting locals mental health facilities. Good ones dont deem you as crazy everyone struggles with fitting in the world. Some turn to alchohol and drugs sadly. I'm not saying this is your issue just solid facts we dont want to see you get involved with. I'd highly recommend reaching out to local facilities that profession in this. As forums are public someone you may know might read your situation and start asking questions. It's a small world you never know who know you might be reading something.
I believe mental health situations should be considered confidential between you and experts who have a PhD regarding situations. I'm not saying forums are useless just be warned even under an alias it may get out there. Or some stranger may give you the wrong information.
Best of luck.

While a forum is no substitute for professional help, the two are not mutually-exclusive. A forum could provide valuable resources such as contact information - where to get help. Also, support groups provide a sense of not being alone. I wouldn't summarily dismiss them. JMO.

And the operative word is " also". When it comes to mental health issue, there is no one singular answer. If we look at some of the recommendation of NAMI, we find a number of paths.

Are you still looking for a mental health forum? Mine is for alternative health but I do have a board for mental health. Some forums have a wide variety of topics. I feel everything goes hand in hand. Can PM me if you want more info. Otherwise, I wish you the best & hope you found what you were looking for!

Locked, as this thread is over a year old and has turned into an advertising thread, no matter how well-intentioned. Mental health issues are serious medical problems and must be handled properly. Having been through very dark places, including major depression and PTSD, as well as seeing family members, friends and patients succumb to suicidal thoughts, I seriously recommend anyone suffering to get proper medical help, as I did. The journey is hard, but you CAN get through it with the help of those who know the proper techniques.
