Whenever I get change back, it basically goes into some random area of my bedroom and never touched again as I generally consider change annoying as there is no real place to be able to carry change like you can with cash or credit/debit cards, so basically I view any sort of change as an annoyance to have on me. You should collect it all and see how much you have! We once had enough that it paid for our vacation. I have never had that much before! The most I believe I have had would of been $50 USD. No more that I can recall, but it is QUITE nice to have that surprise!

I save mine and eventually use it to add to my Amazon GC so I can buy more books. I'm selfish.

I do exactly the same as you wildmaven and Knightly Celt minus the penny's but, even when we did have penny's I saved them up as well and threw it all in my savings for emergency's only.

You should collect it all and see how much you have! We once had enough that it paid for our vacation. It probably ranges in the collection of a few hundred as I rarely use change as its annoying to carry around, and then some change i've just had to completely forget about as it was in the cup holder of a car that i've since got rid of and that was not going to be dealt with since there is some nasty stuff that gathers in that area that ranges from ice cream or lemonade spillovers that falls onto the change and basically gets it all sticky and stuck together...

We have collected in a big jar, small jar, now just a gallon size ziploc. Funny this came up because last weekend, I told Autumn there was $100.00 in there or more. Come to find out, I was off a bit, only $86.42. Eglin Federal CU charges 4% for members, so $82.00 was deposited! Small tip never use those coin star systems they take like half of what you get back The ones in our town charge 10.9%, so they would have kept almost $17.00. I'll take the time to roll them for that rate of return! I did some research for my friends here who don't have a TCF Bank in their area ... It looks like you can use Coinstar with no fee if you upload the money to certain gift cards. www.debtroundup.com/avoid-coinstar-processing-fee/#How_to_Bypass_the_Coinstar_Fee www.coinstar.com/giftcards

Read the link, thanks. It’s another site that has my information to possibly be stolen for one thing. Another is it is restricted which cards participate! But thanks anyway, thought counts!

Hey Pearson I dunno about you but if Coinstar continues to do Amazon gift cards, that would be all I would need.

Thanks for the heads up, though.

I dunno Pearson. I never tried to do that. The only time I ever used an Amazon gift card, I used it for a purchase. The purchase was less then the amount on the card so they showed a gift balance on my account for the difference and I used that toward a later purchase and added some money from my credit card to make up the total.

It's just become habit for my wife and I to walk into our bedroom after work and toss any loose change we have into a coffee can. We do it every day and so far (this time), we've filled two coffee cans and a pretty big football bank I was given for Christmas a few years back.
Last time we cashed it in it was about $500, and it's been well over 3 years since the last time so I'm betting we're over that amount now. It's already your money, and change adds up, just toss it in a can and forget about it. Never know when it could come in handy.

My loose change? I tighten it... so it doesn’t change. Hey Pearson I dunno about you but if Coinstar continues to do Amazon gift cards, that would be all I would need. Can I pay my Monthly Prime Membership from this offer? Kind of. You’d have to use the Amazon gift card to buy a Prime gift membership and redeem it yourself, which would add the total as an account credit to your subscription. By default, Amazon applies the credit to your next billing cycle. Your credit card won’t be charged at all if the credit exceeds your next bill. However, gift memberships can only be purchased in 3- and 12-month plans, not as single monthly installments. You wouldn’t need to change your subscription since the gift credit would simply span multiple billing cycles, but you would need at least $38.97 from your change in order to get the 3-month package. It’s certainly none of my business how anyone else spends their money, but I just want to point out that 1-month ($12.99) and 3-month ($38.97) subscriptions add up to $155.88 (plus tax) annually, while a 12-month subscription is only $119 (plus tax). A $37 savings is worth considering, even when “found money” like accumulated change is covering the cost.

I have a jar that I drop them in. A giant old whiskey bottle I have been working on for a number of years. Sometimes I put the extra change in the boys' piggy banks. Once full, I'll take to the bank. I'm not sure I want to count it. You free, KnightlyCelt?

Oh, and travel, lodging, and food!

I find about a dollar a week in change on the ground. I put everything into a change purse. The original idea was to use the change to feed by baby tortoise. His produce at most costs 2 cents per day though, and I obviously only buy a small amount each week. I keep finding more change than I can spend on him. Right now, I have over $7.00 in change, and I'm wondering if I should think of something else to do with the money.
