DISCLAiMER: Everything in this post is just my opinion. I do not make any claims to its accuracy or inaccuracy.
I, personally, have basically lost expectations on seeing V6 soon. As the announcement of V6 was made over four years ago (and I do realize something like this does take time), I feel that ProBoards should have waited longer before announcing it. In my opinion, they should have waited until they were somewhere around 50% to 75% completed on the known tasks (from the lists on their Trello board), but closer to the 75% mark.
To me, hyping something like this should not run for this length of a duration. From ONE perspective, this could be seen as hyping people up just so they can get discouraged as time passes. This does not seem like ProBoards "style", so that perspective is most likely inaccurate. However, that perspective does exist.
I also have not seen any updating on the aforementioned Trello board in quite some time. I am not saying that progress is not being made, simply that their are no visible updates seen - at least, by me. Perhaps a new label could be added to the Trello board - something like: In Progress, as we can only see no bar or a completed bar currently. My boyfriend (who does have a Trello board of his own) had shown me that there is a way to have the bar progress, something like a 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% completion - but I believe that would be asking too much, as changes may need to be made "on-the-fly" which could make something like that somewhat inaccurate.
TL;DR - I am at a point to where I am at a "I will believe it when I see it" for when V6 will go live, and I am not expecting it to happen this year.
ADMINS/MODERATORS: The original thread (first link in my post) is locked, else I would have posted this there. This is the most recent (activity-wise) thread, and so I posted it here (to avoid necro'ing and old thread). we're definitely in agreement that the announcement was far too soon, though the original intent was to just inform our users that we will be updating the software with a brand new version - never really intended to create any hype around it, though it of course comes with any announcement, anywhere.
The Trello board is still kept up to date, but we only mark something as completed once we are satisfied with it, rather than marking anything as in progress, or completed prematurely. I'll have a look to see how we can make this part better and clearer for the future.
We'll be making a post soon detailing the status of v6 where we will go into a little more detail and some more background.
One thing is certain though - we are still progressing on development despite all the roadblocks placed in the way and we hope to share more with you very soon. Be on the lookout for a new thread coming up in a few days.
