It looks like they might be able to provide a way of sharing images on a ProBoards forum.

Yes, I recall that one. It then morphed into something else that used imgbb.com instead of postimages.org (which has serious issues and so was removed from the plugin library).
It looks like postimages.org has cleaned up their act and perhaps should be reconsidered as the host for an image plugin. Given how difficult it is to use the one using vgy.me we are hoping a more user-friendly plugin will be made.

I wasn't aware that Simple Image Upload ever used postimage as the host. The only version of that plugin of which I have seen, used img.bb as the host.

Yep, although back then the URL was postimg.org
The "new an improved" postimage.org appears to be a cleaned up reincarnation of their older self, but unlike the old version they do not yet support Proboards.

Hmm? This plugin was removed from the library. Thanks for the info. That appears to be an earlier version which was updated to this: And since the latest version does generate unacceptable links, it's not surprising those who maintain the plugin library removed the item.

When Simple Image Upload went to version 2.x they left postimage.org and went to imgbb.org for the image host. I wasn't able to confirm it, but because of the very similar interfaces I got the feeling that the old postimage.org and imgbb.org were really the same entity. That is why I am hopeful that the very different presentation of postimage.org means that they are a new organization.

Ah, cool. As far as I know, the imageupload one wasn't that great either.

Actually the plugin itself works well and we still use it. The problem is that image hosting site started redirecting clicks to unsavory sites, so now we are in desperate need to a replacement.

Okay, I mean, compared to the original vgy.me plugin, it wasn't as great. That was just the best one, and probably still the best, though it's unfortunate that the uploading can only be done with a user key and stuff.

I think I have located an image hosting site that doesn't require creating an account; you just go straight to upload.
Will that work?
