Everyone knew it was only a matter of time after Photobucket ended its hotlinking for free accounts. I can appreciate how frustrating it is to have to find a new host, but everyone has had ample time to make the necessary preparations and migrations for the inevitable.

I noticed that a week ago when I went to their site and saw that message, and then I was like, "No, you're my number one place to go to upload and resize my images, asdf!"

I noticed that a week ago when I went to their site and saw that message, and then I was like, "No, you're my number one place to go to upload and resize my images, asdf!" I just spent all morning uploading and relinking all 100+ emojis for my cbox. Now to work on avatars and signatures for my forum. *flail*

I guess you could say this is a tiny bit of an issue.

Everyone knew it was only a matter of time after Photobucket ended its hotlinking for free accounts. I can appreciate how frustrating it is to have to find a new host, but everyone has had ample time to make the necessary preparations and migrations for the inevitable. Not everyone. OK, everyone who knew Photobucket owned TinyPic should have known to expect this. Really though, anyone with a large number of images they intend to access frequently and/or long-term shouldn’t use an image hosting service like that. Their model has proven itself to be untenable time after time and they’re all going to go belly up. I’d advise people to get a proper web hosting package and host the images themselves. Many hosts are adding language into their terms that forbids their use as a CDN, but you’ll be good as long as you stay well within your bandwidth allowance.

So glad I didn't go back to them once Photobucket ruined my pictures. I have been using Imgur. Not sure how many photos I can have but it allows you to make albums that be can be hidden or public.

I do wonder why proboards just doesnt offer an image uploading service 🤷♂️ I can't understand how anyone can have a business model for a free image host based on hotlinking that can cover its own costs. (storage space, server time, bandwidth, etc.)
