This is really amazing, I am new to PB, but the little time I have, I can say that I am very satisfied with the result. Congratulations to the entire PB team. it was mostly me doing the hard work by yelling at VS Admin to code moar

That's why the latest version of ProBoards has such advanced security features.

I owe so much to PB. I started my forum when I was a teenager. I'd just started recovering from a really bad time in my life and needed something to focus and occupy my time with creatively. Anyway, from owning my forum I learned so much more than I could have anticipated - in a way, it feels like I grew up with PB and became who I am because of my forum. I learned how to deal with a variety of people-based situations (negative people, helping new members, leading a staff group, etc). I learned how to code, how to take style and accessibility into account, how to calculate and plan for things.... honestly, it's like almost every skill you could put on a resume, I learned a lot of it from being an Admin. I learned to trust my instincts, become confident in making decisions and dealing with people, and how to turn ideas into something really cool. I also learned the power of community, which is something I'd never experienced before. I know this sounds like a lot, but honestly that's how it was for me. Maybe not everyone has this life-changing impact, but I did. It's just such a great way to learn, explore, and create. It's been over a decade and I really have no idea who or where I'd be had I not found Proboards.

I manage two forums using proboards. One is oriented to online sellers, the other is a private political forum. Many of my members on both forums already worked from home before COVID hit.
Despite not being solely social in nature, the forums stayed true to their original intent while gaining a bit of social nature. They've been a great place to check in daily, chat about the virus and other topics of concern, stay in touch, share ideas, fears and thoughts, etc. To be reassured that we aren't alone. My members come from all over the country and many of us have met other members in real life and formed lifetime friendships with people we met on the forums. We even have members battling cancer who are helping each other thru the treatments, while the rest of us cheer, laugh and cry with them. Community develops no matter what the original intent or purpose of the forum might be. Like Water Crystals said, it's the power of community and it's priceless.
I live alone and work from home, even before COVID. Before COVID, though, I did go to client offices or meet with them live periodically. My other business is online selling so no contact there. I can't imagine going thru these past 5 months without my forum friends.
Thank you, proboards, for offering my forums the opportunity to exist.
