I'll be honest, I don't know if you're going to get 'staff' (presuming you mean PB staff) to review. This is more a community activity, though in very rare instances I have seen support mods give feedback.
Anyway, I normally give pretty in-depth rates but since there isn't a tonne of customisation, I'll just keep it short:
Visually, the forum is a bit bland. Not a lot has been done other than changing the colours and font sizes of the default theme and adding a banner/background, so I can't really comment on anything beyond that. I will say that the banner is a bit blurry, so I would recommend using a higher resolution image -- shrinking a larger image to fit smaller widths will have the image come out more clearly than expanding a smaller image to fit a wider width.
Content-wise, it's all right. It looks like a general talk board, though, and doesn't really explain what "The O.M." is. Based on your content, I don't think the name of the forum really holds any meaning. If there is a meaning, and a core purpose of the forum that relates to that meaning, then I would put that content grouped together and as close to the top as possible so it's the first thing that potential members see. I don't really see a whole lot to entice members to this forum -- why should they pick this forum out of other general talk / new age spirituality (?) / occult (?) forums?
Out of a 10 rating based on content and visual appearance, I'd give this forum a 5/10. It's not exceedingly terrible and it's not exceedingly fantastic, it's just kind of middle of the road.

Well I tried my best. The ouija method is an art form and I would like to see discussion based on that. But I’m not getting the feedback I was hoping for on my board.

Should I put an explanation in the header? I tried to explain it the best I can. Maybe you can tell me how to word it so people understand

Well I tried my best. The ouija method is an art form and I would like to see discussion based on that. But I’m not getting the feedback I was hoping for on my board. If this is your first forum / one of your first forums, you don't need to feel disheartened that your best resulted in the review I gave. This is hard (people literally spend 2-4 years in school to learn design & make careers out of them), so if you're just doing it casually it's honestly normal to be limited in what you know how to do! Don't give up, and don't feel bad about it as much as possible. It'll come with time, patience, practice, and seeking advice from those with more experience. Your opening post for this thread also just has your forum link. If you're looking for specific feedback, then you need to let people know that. We're not mind readers What I generally do for 'specialised' sites is the following -- note though that your mileage may vary, and other people might have other ideas. 1. The banner: I usually make it clear what the site is about through the use of a subtitle. For example, I had a site (now closed) called The Avatar RP -- in the early days, before we were the #1 search engine result for our key words, I included a subtitle that read something along the lines of An Avatar: The Last Airbender RP Community . So, similarly, what I'd do for your banner is to spell out what the site is about so people know at a full glance. "The O.M." means nothing to anyone except you at this point, so I would use the full name + subtitle -- "The Ouija Method" + [subtitle here] Examples: - The Ouija Method // The Art of [X] - The Ouija Method // A [X] Community - The Ouija Method // Making [X] out of [Y] 2. A welcome table: Between the banner and the top of the categories, I usually put some sort of informational table that welcomes guests and lets them know what the forum is about, and lets members know of any updates. For example I might do something like this: Welcome to The Ouija Method! | Here I'd put a short synopsis (3-4 sentences, no longer) about the forum, then end it with a call to action -- something like "join us today!" or "join to learn more", things like that. | Quick Links Link to the Rules Link to longer explanation of OM Link to an important thread |
You don't have to necessarily follow this style, there are plenty of ways to put in this information and plenty of ways to style it. The core of this is that there is a quick, user-friendly way to read a short synopsis of what the forum is about, as well as link to any important content a potential member would need to decide whether or not they join. Personally, I would make a more modern theme to go along with the site but: a) that is 100% not mandatory and doesn't guarantee engaged membership, b) there are plenty of sites with near-default themes that are super popular, so it's not the defining factor in whether or not your forum is successful. That said, modern websites are (generally) easier to navigate because of the general social consciousness of what a website is supposed to have. The default PB theme is not bad in this regard, but there are ways it could be modernised (the default PB theme is about ~6 years old, which is ancient in website years). If you don't have the skills to make a modern theme, there are a lot of lovely modern themes in the PB theme library. My favourite are those by elli which you can find [ here]. There are a tonne of other themes though, so by all means install multiple themes to try them out / to have more than one option for your users (note though only ONE theme can be seen by guests, so if you decide to have multiple themes you'll have to decide which one will be your default, first-impressions themes). I hope this helps (:
