For anyone interested, you can enable forced SSL from the experiments section of your admin panel to try things out. Admin>Upgrades>Experiments. Now if only I could get to the admin functions, with NONE of my menu items displayed! The change has removed almost all of my custom 'touches' from the forum, making navigation a real hassle (for me). Surprisingly, I have not had complaints from users ... either because they are unable to, or are just actively pursuing the latest submissions.
Edit: For example, my avatar is missing from THIS post, as well as my signature.

Thanks for making the site more secure. Should we be announcing this change to our members and telling them to change their bookmarks to the new URL with the https?

Edit: For example, my avatar is missing from THIS post, as well as my signature. This is because those images are hosted on your website. As I'm writing this I'm seeing you got this handled on the support board though, so please continue to post issues like this there. Thanks for making the site more secure. Should we be announcing this change to our members and telling them to change their bookmarks to the new URL with the https? The URL will automatically push them to the HTTPS version of the page so they shouldn't need to update their bookmarks at all.

Because my site still shows "not secure" in the address bar. I can manually add the https and then I see the little padlock icon. But it isn't automatic. At least, not yet.

This will happen when SSL is rolled out to your forum. Not all forums have had the rollout happen yet.

I take it that the roll out is happening right now? My forum is loading intermittently at the moment. Some pages are http and some are https. Then when I go back to the home page it is back to http.

Gene Hunt, yes it is in the process of rolling out, however it would affect the overall forum not individual pages.

Hi all,
At this point in time, all non-custom domain forums have been updated to SSL.
We identified one minor issue related to SSL + custom domains, so we're going to wait another day or so before rolling out SSL for those forums.

I am surprised that forum admins - not this one anyway - did not receive advance notice of this important change. For some of us, it is a non-trivial change and some of us hwi.proboards.com/ - and I'll bet most - don't visit Forum Support very often so would not have seen the January notice. It's no doubt too late to do anything about that now as many will have been making changes to their forums but frankly, if as in my case forum admins were not sent an advance pm, that is poor customer service. I just wanted to register my annoyance as I now have to sort out the mess. Dave

Just adding my voice. I also feel that admins should have been notified. We do not visit the support forum every day. I faced two days of no images or broken image links, two days of trouble to locate the cause, and two days of doling out apologies to my members. Where is my compensation? I ask that ProBoards provide me with a month of ad-free service; noting that I have been paying for it for many years. VS Admin

Wow. No good deed goes unpunished huh? Three years notice and a massive addition in security and people are complaining and asking for compensation. Smh.

Where exactly was this notice three years ago? Asking to a person who has been a member of the support forum for three months. Wow. I will take no lessons from you...kindly move along.
