Merging posts that have other posts in between them

Hello - 

I know there is a plugin that auto merges posts by the same author in a thread for example if they post and then post again a few minuets later. 

I was looking for something a bit different. I am looking for something that would go something like this (best way i can explain it sorry ) 

If i make a thread I am op - now say a bunch of people leave comments. Now i comment again but i want to merge my new post with my OP. Is this at all possible. Basically merging posts INSIDE the thread.

I think in this case you might be better off just editing the first post of the thread.

The reason the other plugin you mentioned works well is because the posts it merges are right next to each other on the same page of the thread. The plugin doesn't really have to do much since all of the information it needs is guaranteed to appear consecutively and it can just lift it out of each post right then and there.

The plugin idea you're requesting would require that data to be stored somehow as there's no longer a guarantee those posts will be on the same page. Plugin keys unfortunately store significantly less data than the maximum allowed in a post, and there's no functionality that allows you to otherwise obtain the contents of a post that's not currently visible on the page.

thank you for your reply I appreciate it. I understand what you mean. I thought I would ask because a forum I used to work on had this for when I wanted to merge a bunch of posts together that all had pictures in them - that way all the pics would go to the OP.
