Hello. I am moderator of a harry potter roleplay forum, where we count points in the main header. However, the points should be manually changed by going to the admin panel>structure>main header and then changing the code. This can be only done by staff and it is indeed not an easy way of changing the points. Plus, it needs to be done quite often.
I'd like to use a plugin which would allow to have certain member groups to edit the main header without having to edit it through the admin panel. For example, to have an edit button right next to the main header on the forum page. If this is not possible, then maybe it would be possible for board descriptions to be edited by clicking on them (and having an edit page show up, similar to the simple post writing page). The point of this is to assign certain groups or certain members to have the ability to edit the main header/board description.
I tried searching for a similar plugin or an option in the settings, but couldn't find anything. However, if this has already been done, I'd appreciate instructions how to do it or a link to a plugin.

Plugins can't modify anything in the Admin panel, so that route is not doable - for either of those. For your point system, however, have you thought about using Custom Profile Fields ( Admin > Members > Custom Profile Fields) for that? If you don't have access to that, you may want to ask your Forum Owner if they can grant you that power.

This would actually be pretty easy to accomplish using a plugin that uses a forum key and is probably a good example of a use case for that key type. You could add an element with a certain class to the page and the plugin would populate that element with text upon loading the page.
If you want to make it really simple to use it could become editable upon being clicked on, then when you're finished editing it and click away from it the new values are saved to the plugin key.
The only thing I'd caution against is a lazy implementation of this where it just displays whatever the user typed without filtering it at all. Plugins should always sanitize user-editable data intended for display on the forum so that malicious code can't be added to the page.
