Do you ever wake up with an uneasy feeling of WTF? Do your dreams sometimes unsettle you? Maybe giving you the feeling that something is wrong? Even making you feel depressed or anxious? It may take you many minutes to realise it WAS just a dream....even though you may not actually remember your dream fully. Do you sometimes confuse your dreams with reality?
I hate sleep in so many ways! As Edgar said, "they're like little slices of death!"
I'm afraid of sleeping sometimes. I think it's the fear of losing control. If I fall asleep in front of the TV, or reading a book, that's ok. But if I go to bed, purposely to fall asleep, I'm afraid! I always try to read a book in bed...we don't have a TV in the bedroom.

I love a good dream and if I wake up in the middle of one then I have that knack of going back to sleep and finish the dream off, if I have a dream that unsettled me and I woke up then all I do is get up, visit the bathroom, sit in the lounge for about 5 minutes then go back to bed.

All the time. It's a PTSD thing in my case. Even before that, though, I remember occasionally having dreams that seemed just a little too real, or ones that weren't necessarily scary but definitely disturbing. It made the good dreams seem that much better. Dreams being so varied and weird were what got me into studying cognitive science, because I wanted to learn how they worked and why we had them. That knowledge didn't really help me as I was disoriented and waking up, but it was pretty cool.
If you're afraid of sleeping sometimes, a few things that have helped me were setting bedtime routines I could associate with comfort and calm, putting on music or audiobooks or white noise (which can help you fall asleep and also if you wake up), rearranging the room, playing with lighting, using a calming pillow spray, things like that. All sorts of little things. And learning more about dreams didn't help me because of my circumstances, but generally I find that knowing more about something can make it less scary, and that could be the case here too.

All the time. It's a PTSD thing in my case. Mine were, too. Night terrors were very common until I finally found a therapist who was amazing. I did a lot of homework, we did EMDR therapy, and now I haven't had a nightmare in over a month. I hope you eventually find something that works for you. It took me a long time, but I finally got there.

I'm glad it worked so well for you!

Does anyone here suffer from sleep paralysis? I get it somewhat regularly including 2 episodes last night. I don't remember the 1st one but my wife had to literally smack me in the face to wake me up from the 2nd one. That one was especially bad because I could hear her saying my name and shaking me a bit but I still couldn't wake up. It was mostly a nightmare this one, where I was dreaming some terrifying dead body demon thing choking me from super far away with really long arms. My wife can always tell when I'm going through this because I often start breathing REALLY loudly and sometimes it turns into a like...really long and loud snore that actually wakes her up. It's always because when experiencing this paralysis, I ALWAYS feel like I can't breathe. I hate it. And my wife has sleep apnea. Aren't we a pair.

I either dream that I'm a mega millionaire in Hawaii, and a detective, or I go back to work at a fast food joint when I was in my 20's. Everyone I worked with then was still there. lol, we was just a bit slower because of age. What a nightmare. Sometimes, I dream that I have superpowers and they don't always work right.Even funnier.

I seem to keep having dreams that follow this same general pattern: - I'm still in either high school or college for some reason, and it's close to the end of the day.
- There's a course at the end of my daily schedule that I realize I've never been to because I've always left before the end of the day, and I think, "Huh, I must be getting a terrible grade in that course."
- I realize it's lunch time and I head to the nearest Dunkin Donuts.
- I get + eat the Dunkin Donuts food, and it's really good.
- I never return to class. Then I realize it's like 9 PM and I'm like, "Whoops, guess I forgot to go to that class again."
tl;dr Dunkin Donuts is more important than receiving a complete education.

tl;dr Dunkin Donuts is more important than receiving a complete education. I think a lot of people have variations of the high school / college dream. I feel like they are stress dreams. In mine, I'm either back in high school or college. I realize that I forgot my schedule and don't know how to get to my next class. I conclude that I can get my schedule from my locker. I start heading towards my locker, but realize I don't know how to find my locker either. So, I never find my locker or get to my next class. Recently though, I've been talking to myself inside the dream. "It doesn't matter if you never make it to class because you already graduated."

I have dreams a lot of the time based on TV or books or something that are recently in my memory. Case in point, I had a dream the other night that I was in a game of JUMANJI after watching the original with my kids.
The other times, I have dreams that are either a mix of weird things that I can't explain. Or that they seem real and somewhat "futuristic." I have had several dreams that have later come "true." It's definitely a deja vu feeling on the latter.

I hate sleep in so many ways! The only thing I dislike about sleep is that I can't do anything (directly) productive while I'm sleeping. Other than that, I love it! The idle time while sleeping is necessary for the body to rebuild from daily wear and tear. The mind remains active and dreams are the mind's playtime.

I had a dream where I managed to make a version of Love Actually using the case of The Vicar of Dibley.
I don't want to sleep again as nothing will compare to that.

I rarely remember dreams. I don't recall having more than 4 or 5 in my lifetime. When I sleep, I sleep!
