So far three members on my site have responded. Three that use Chrome said the links went to the inactive thing, while the one person who said he used Firefox said he got them with no problem. What is Viglink? Viglink automatically converts product links as a source of revenue generation. It may be incorrectly attempting to modify a link. Usually these problems resolve themselves but occasionally they need a poke.

Like I said before, this is something new. In fact I was only made aware of it last night when one of my members tried to click the link and got that inactive statement. I contacted "BOX" and got this replay last night
Thank you for contacting Box Product Support. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues accessing your files. I'll do my best to help! To start with our investigation, kindly provide me the following: The original shared link that you were trying to access The name of file/folder and it's full path location Furthermore, if the content was collaborated to you, try logging in to your account "huronna@hotmail.com" on the web app and see if you can find it there. On the other hand, based on how you describe the problem, I suspect that the issue might be related to your browser. As our basic troubleshooting steps, kindly clear the browser's cache and access the link again. You may as well try using an incognito and/or a different web browser. Hope to hear from you soon. Best, Melbert Box Product Support
I did all that, and it was the same and reported back to them
I use two different browsers, Chrome and Opera. One of the many links is app.box.com/s/jstr7ep9jh0wfgy82lir4kawi1ja2pyl This link is placed on my site which is a proboards site. if I click on this link while being in the proboards site, I get this result This link is inactive. But I tried something different, I sent the link to myself in an e-mail and it worked correctly. Also If I copy/paste the link into a browser tab that works also. I think that there is actually something odd within the Proboards server. So I am going to e-mail them regarding this problem. I will get back to you with the results.
Box responded.... Thank you for the update! I confirmed that the issue is not from Box but with the server environment on your end. I'll keep this ticket on pending status but if we haven't received any reply from you after 24hrs, I’ll mark this case as solved but your case is not closed.
Since this probably never occurred before and just started, prehaps it will rectify itself. I started using this method background-challenge-november-2013 and never has there been a problem.
I don't understand why the link works if I sent it to someone in an e-mail, or if I put it directly in the browser manually writting the https:// before the link. But not if I put the link in a proboards message.
I also just added the links to a post on another server SMF 2.0.15 | SMF © 2017, Simple Machines TinyPortal © 2005-2017 Gray Style © Customize SMF XHTML RSS WAP2 and they worked fine.
How does one "POKE" Viglink?

I just tried the links on your forum using Firefox on Linux MX-19, and I got to the page with no problem, apart from the fact that it said it couldn't display the image, as it's in pspimage format. I tried again with Brave browser with the same result.
I downloaded one of the images easily enough, but I don't have PSP on my Linux system, so I couldn't open it.

If this issue is widespread (and not limited to one or two people) we would need to email Viglink to have them correct it. Since this seems to be limited, I'm hesitant to tell them that something is wrong with the software as it may be an issue with particular users browsers/setup that is causing the problem.

Since it just started to occur and is limited to just a few, I can think positively that it will rectify itself...or I know there is a way to get around it. If a person copies the url from my post and simply pastes it into about tab, it come up. On more step but it will take care of the problem at hand.
Thanks all for trying to solve this conundrum

Hi there. I'm having exact problem in my Forum... I openned a thread in this support forum here: support.proboards.com/thread/661255/links-gives-link-inactive-active?page=1&scrollTo=7235229A temporary fix to the problem is using the central buttom to open the link. The support team is having problems to indentify the problem cause if we copy the links and paste them in this support forum, the issue never appears... I tested all links copying them to the thread i said above and all them works here in this particular forum. In my own Forum they don't open and they all are directed to the address: ui2.awin.com/closedmerchant.php?mid=10540&aid=85386Displaying "link is not active" in a blank page... Sometimes says something about viglink... Please copy a link with the problem from you site, and paste it here to test it... It will work correctly. Test it please...

Hi, You already have an active thread, where I have replied. Please do NOT hijack other users threads. I'm sorry but my intetion is not that (hijack) nothing like you said... My intention was only to help, linking the two threads to improve experience with this problem, cause i read this entire thread searching for a solution for my same problem and what i see here is a very difficult to helpers see the problem in this support forum because the problems with the links don't happens here but only on our individual foruns... If you see my intention as an "hijack", my apologies to the user who started the thread... It was not my intention! I'd like to know if huronna sees my intention in the same way as you see, or a trying to help to solve this problem... Your intervention was very unpleasant and the terms you used were unnecessary... Thank You. Best regards

Helder Lopes, it is appreciated that you were trying to tie together the two threads with similar issues. Just adding a link to the other thread would be sufficient in cases like this. FYI, there was no ill will intended. I see you have two forums each with a list of rules that you expect your members to follow. We have rules here for this forum and specific rules for this board, and like you, we have the same expectation of members following our rules. In a peer-support environment where there is help from both PB Admins and other users, at times the information needed to help a member with an issue can be clouded or misinterpreted when there is multiple members discussing their own, even if similar, issue in the same thread. Sometimes issues that appear to be the same have different causes and are not as related as they first seem. This is one of the reasons we like to have each person create their own thread. This helps keep everyone focused on the issue of the member that created the thread, and to ensure if that if the issue is resolved for one member, the other member that posts their issue in the same thread is not accidentally overlooked by assuming that their issue is resolved as well. Additionally, having a member post about their issue in multiple threads can impede the resolution and/or cause duplicated efforts. Thanks for understanding.
