Hi PB Admins,
An ad on the bottom-left of the support forum started playing audio on rollover; however when I attempted to report, the report box came up but pressing the 'submit' button did not result in submission (there was no effect and the dialogue did not disappear, it was as if I had not clicked submit).

I'm not hijacking your thread, but I'm wondering if it was the Mazda ad. I had similar issues with that ad and recently saw some members make threads on ProBoards Support regarding that ad. Either way, I'm sure the admins will help you with your issue. Have a great weekend.

It was a Mazda ad, yes, though I am not reporting the ad itself through this thread just the loss of reporting functionality.
Addendum for admins: I do not have ad blocker enabled for any PB forum so that is not the issue.

Kami, what browser were you using? In testing with Chrome I had no issues being able to report an ad.

Audio on rollover is considered an action and is not a violation of our ad-policies. (Just as an FYI).

Kami , what browser were you using? In testing with Chrome I had no issues being able to report an ad. Chrome, latest version, desktop. Audio on rollover is considered an action and is not a violation of our ad-policies. (Just as an FYI). Not gonna lie, super confused since you're contradicting yourself: support.proboards.com/thread/660862/ad-policy-question

Since this is a user-imitated action it fits within our guidelines.

Tbh that is kind of feelsbad seeing as it is not inherently an intentional action if I'm scrolling and my mouse happens to land on an ad due to the scroll. that's not me choosing to interact with the ad, yanno? It feels disruptive, especially since there's no sort of, "hey make sure to place your mouse right here if you don't want to interact with our ads in any fashion even accidentally" warning anywhere on PB.
But regardless, I will keep this in mind and I appreciate the clarification.

I was scrolling to the bottom of the page, and BAM. I guess I can no longer use my mouse to scroll whilst the pointer is in the middle of the page.

Our policies and contracts with our advertisers can change. I was not disputing you, Michael. I was merely pointing out that this had been an issue before. If your policies and contracts have changed, then I thank you for letting me know that those types of ads should not be reported - although I will still attempt to be careful around any ads now, give that they can play audio on mouseover is allowed. However, if I may, I am curious as to how a mouseover state can be counted as a user action. Does this mean that ads that redirect on mouseover are also allowed, simply because my mouse pointer traveled across the ad? To be clear, it is not my intent to sound "snarky". I am merely curious so I am well-informed of what is and what is not permitted for ad behavior. Thank you.

Ah, that does make a big difference. I did not realize that those ads would stop the audio when no longer hovered over. If I am correct then, ads that stop playback when no longer hovered over are fine. If an ad does not stop playback when no longer hover over, does that make that type of ad reportable? Again, Michael, I thank you very much for the clarification, your time and your patience with my questions.
