Forum URL: eyezone.boards.netI deleted a post on my forum and for some reason my post count remained the same, when I created a post it add too it. How do I refresh the post count to be actually accurate as on my post count it is 1 post off due to me deleting a post prior?

Hi Just a note that the post count is a count of the posts made on the forum and not a count of the posts that exist on the forum, so it does not decrease when posts are deleted.

So then due to someone deleting a post, it would then make the post count inaccurate then what actually exists on the forum, is there anyway to fix this?

So then due to someone deleting a post, it would then make the post count inaccurate then what actually exists on the forum, is there anyway to fix this? You'd have to edit their post count manually. The person's post count displays how many posts they made. It doesn't automatically decrease if one of their posts is deleted. If you don't manually edit the post count, it technically will be inaccurate to the extent that it doesn't match what's remaining on the forum. It is accurate to the extent that topics and replies are counted a certain way when they are made. If the member deleted post #2 on your forum, #2 can never be made again. The next person to post will create post #3. However, the #s displayed in your info center will reflect what's actually on your forum.

You can manually adjust the post count on an account via their edit profile. But on ProBoards at least, the post count has always reflected how many posts have been made, so in that respect it is accurate. I will mark this as a feature request to see if they could perhaps have a 'recount' option to automatically adjust all post counts to the actual posts on the forum.

ezwarren, posts counts are not reduced when posts are deleted since technically the user still made that number of posts. So I guess a truer definition of post count is the number of posts a user has made, not the number of posts they made that are still remaining on the forum. Here's an example of why posts counts are not reduced for deleted posts: Let's say a forum uses the member ranks feature to allow a member access to a board, or other achievement on an rp site once a certain number of posts have been made. Should a deleted post(s) demote the user and reverse their accomplishment or again restrict their access to a board?

For those who insist on having the post count population reflect the living rather than both the living and dead then the following might help for periodic maintenance: As a trick, you can quickly determine someone's true post count as an admin by going to Admin > Security > Forum Cleanup, ensuring "Threads created by the member" and "PMs started by the member" are UN-checked, and searching for a specific user in this area and clicking "Calculate total". This'll calculate the number of posts the user has on the forum, and you're free to edit their post count manually to match that number if you don't want their deleted posts to be tallied too.

Is there a quick way to determine the boards total post count The "Board Information & Statistics" section will list the number of threads and the number of posts for that board.
