Hi all,
Recently I completely refurbished the concept of my forum, I have created Writer's PlayBook: a forum on Art & Fantasy. It's a Creative Writing place whereas at the past with another concept I was advised to consider the option of Forum Promotion: a place where you gain virtual cash and engage in packages and post exchanges, what I consider good as well as "constructed" interest.
It's good, but as a place of general forums in many categories can't guarantee my own target audience, I look for people who are fans, serious, or creative especially in creative writing, who care about books, reading, writing as well as fan clubs.
The way I see it (I refer to Forum Promotion), you have to gain virtual cash, which takes effort, give a package of posts at another forum and then receive your own. A Kofi Annan plan for a few articles I would say.... I still haven't figured out how the process of Forum Promotion technically works for a new member... What am I supposed to do and write and where? Forum Promotion would require an enormous amount of time and effort which I cannot offer. Furthermore, does it guarantee active members? Or do they make 10 articles and then they go away?
Based on the above thoughts and suggestions I have the following questions:
1.) Do you believe I should perhaps look beyond ProBoards at official Creative Writing communities, which I had done minimal quests at the past and focus primarily to the fact that... "writers are lovers"? Meaning, people who correlate well with me and have similar passions and desires in terms of what we like to write and discuss?
Furthermore, does this mean I should be cautious in terms of official creative writing places instead of chatting and entertainment as previous efforts have not flourished? It's all about getting a signature somewhere, promote myself and hope they like me as I like them...
2.) Do you believe that for an official creative writing place, Forum Promotion is a waste of time as it talks about general activities and can't guarantee writers, hobbyists or professionals? If you disagree and have something special in mind I would like to know it.
3.) Do you believe there are other tools in terms of getting my place known for free?
Looking forward for your reply
