So many times, threads will ask, "What is your favorite holiday?" Some include polls with the major ones that seem to take up store shelf space or have a holiday built in as part of their tradition. But what about secondary and tertiary "holidays?" What about the ones people forget or don't even know of? I want to know what your favorite "unknown" or "unpopular" holiday is and why.

What about the ones people forget or don't even know of? I reckon very few know of Root Canal Appreciation Day (May 13). Q: What does the dentist of the year get? A: A little plaque. Q: What does an orthodontist do on a roller coaster? A: He braces himself. Q: What did the cavity say to the departing dentist? A: Fill me in when you get back. Q: What's the least effective way of repairing a broken tooth? A: Tooth paste.

Easter, well it's not the same as in the past but me and Liz love Easter for the grandsons in getting them things.
I say it's not the same as years gone by as then it would be chocolate Easter Eggs filled with goodies but nowadays people don't like the idea of too much chocolate for kiddies so now it will be some small eggs plus either clothes or some toys, that seems to do the trick for them.

July 24, 2011, a day that will live on in infamy. The day which Jim and I use as a benchmark to all of our adventures. Ladies and Gentlemen, may I present The Flaming Geyser. Located off the beaten path in WA state, this "gem" beckoned us with huge signs shouting at us in multicolor glory to see the wonder of the Flaming Geyser. As we continued to drive, we got more and more excited as the signs became more tantilizing. We couldn't wait! We were so excited! We arrive, found the parking lot to be full, and we hurried, following the path that would lead us to this wonder of nature! This had to be amazing! This had to be the best part of our trip. This had to be- DOH!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S IT?!?!?!?!!??!?! On July 24, 2014, several years later, Jim was extremely nervous about his upcoming double bypass open heart surgery. I told him that I bought him something. Something that was probably the best gift I could ever find, something that I was so excited for him to get. Something that I had searched for and never thought I could find. I built it up big time. The anticipation in his eyes was enormous. I brought out the small package and, it was apparent from my actions that this was something important. Something big. He opened it up and found this: "HAPPY FLAMING GEYSER DAY," I shouted. He laughed and laughed and laughed. It was just the humor he needed at that moment, a wonderful break in the anxiety over his upcoming surgery. So, while this holiday is unknown to the rest of the world, it will always be a day that's near and dear to our hearts. One, for the original absurdity, and two, for the ability of such a small moment to make such a huge impact on my husband's life.

Not exactly a single holiday, but Golden Week (Japan). During that time a lot of Japanese video games tend to go on sale, and I usually buy at least one.
