Sounds good. The Scottish Highlands, Lake District and Northumberland Coast are particular highlights as far as the beauty of the UK goes. You'll also want to visit some of our cities like Edinburgh and London. There's a lot more I could recommend. Really depends what kind of thing you're interested in seeing/doing, what your interests are and whether you plan on staying in one place or travelling around.
Everything is close together relative to how spread out places are in the U.S. and the routes you take from one place to another are generally pleasent and scenic, both of which make travel a lot easier. I live at one end of England and I can get to the other end of it in four hours more or less.

It depends what you’re interested in. Some of our cities have a lot to see if you’re interested in history (York and Chester come to mind as my favourites), and there are sites like Stonehenge and Hadrian’s Wall. You’d definitely want to spend time in London to see the landmarks. If you’re in London, it’s also really easy to get the train to Paris and back in a day too, if you’re here for long enough to make that worthwhile. If you’re into walking in the countryside, there are some fantastic places in the Peak District, Lake District, and as previously mentioned the Scottish Highlands. It all depends on what you want from it.
You should definitely do it though, when travel is easier. Traveling to other countries really broadens your horizons and you’ll have experiences you’ll never forget. It’s something I’ll really miss this year, as I had two trips to Spain (one in a tourist resort that wouldn’t exactly have been a cultural experience, and the other to Barcelona) cancelled due to the pandemic.

This is really cool, I hope you can make this trip. I also have a dream of traveling to many countries, but what I most want is Japan, I love this country. I hope one day to get to know the beautiful city of Tokyo.

I’m hoping to go back in 2023, assuming travel gets back to normal.

Enjoy your trip if you get to go. I'm hoping to travel more too, for both work and pleasure. The UK is probably not in my top 10, but I do hope to get there at some point. I love exploring new places and cultures.

Removed as totally inappropriate for this thread that was a member asking for area's to visit within a country. Not what a member thought might be wrong with a country, which in this case was very narrow minded and misguided.
Please see this as a reminder to keep on track.
Thank you.

Yes, we’re all racists here! Sorry, but that’s pretty ridiculous. A lot of countries have far right thugs, but in the UK at least they are definitely not a majority. Kenneth, I’d be interested to know if you have further thoughts about what you’d want to do in the UK. You posted this and then didn’t come back to it!

I have to second what Shady said, that's an unfortunate generalisation.
Post-Corona, I would recommend some beautiful spots in the South-West (anywhere in Cornwall and I'm a big fan of Plymouth and Torquay.)
If you can handle a fair bit of rain (even in the Summer at times), there are some beautiful places in Scotland and Edinburgh is a fantastic city to visit.
Hope you get here eventually and I wish you safe and healthy travelling!

Back on topic please guys and for those that want to assume can I suggest they search out other forums or topics that would suit their style.
On Topic:
IMO A waste of time coming to the UK to see areas of countryside that would be similar to many areas within their own country.
Architecture would be my suggestion.

My e tire life I've lived in the same city and ha ent gone out in like 5 years, I've been having some dreams about travel. So I may plan a flight to the UK once I get my passportd innorder and talk with work. Any recommended areas to go to? Before going to a completely different country on your own, why not do some traveling to other states first, to get a feel for how you like to travel. Some people like hitting the open road, driving for hours between the sights, while others want a more immersive experience. Try going to rural locations, big cities, etc. I traveled over 4,000 miles by myself, cross country and had a blast. Others would've found it scary. Doing things in your own country before traveling outside of it can also get you prepared for daily budgeting, how to pack, etc. When you go to the UK, are you planning on renting a car, or relying on public transportation? That can totally change your itinerary.

That can totally change your itinerary. There is public transport pretty much everywhere. Trains can be expensive though, so you may want to plan ahead and get the cheaper tickets. Coach is a good option with fair prices, if you don't mind a little slower journey.

On the subject of transport, it would probably be easier to join an organised tour for your first big trip abroad. That way, all your transport would be included, and you’d be seeing highlights recommended by the tour organiser.
I wouldn’t hire a car if London is your base. Public transport is so much easier. If you’re still even interested given the lack of response lol
